Ye Wanwan slept until she woke naturally, the space beside her already empty. She remembered Shen Yi had left for work while she was still half-asleep.
It was probably because it was the end of the year that both Father Ye and Father Shen were very busy, and Mother Ye and Mother Shen had made plans to go abroad and watch a show together.
Only Ye Wanwan was left with not much work to keep her busy, and she didn’t find going out alone very amusing.
After lying in bed for long enough, Ye Wanwan finally got up to wash up, then went downstairs for a late breakfast. After eating, she listlessly watched variety shows on the living room sofa with Taozhi in her arms.
After catching up on the latest variety shows, Ye Wanwan had nothing else to do, so she took out her phone to read a few novels she had been following recently.
Even though she was home alone, she played to her heart’s content.
It wasn’t until after two o’clock in the afternoon, when Ye Wanwan yawned and felt a bit sleepy and was preparing to go back up to sleep, that Shen Yi called her.
Ye Wanwan, on her way upstairs, answered the phone, "Hello?"
"What are you doing?" Shen Yi asked.
"Just watching variety shows, reading novels..." Before she could finish with "playing games," Ye Wanwan quickly stopped herself and forcefully changed the subject, "What about you? Do you have to work late tonight?"
"Hmm, I’ll have my assistant stop by the house later. Can you give him the document on top inside the drawer of the desk in my study?"
"Wait a sec," Ye Wanwan said, and hurried toward the study.
Shen Yi had called Ye Wanwan specifically because the door to his study had a password, which none of the household staff knew; only he and Ye Wanwan did.
Ye Wanwan arrived at the study door, entered the password, and went inside smoothly.
"That’s the one on top." Shen Yi reminded her, knowing that Ye Wanwan was in the study looking for the document.
Ye Wanwan smoothly retrieved the document, "I’ve found it."
"Alright, I will have my assistant come over to get it. You can give it to him then," said Shen Yi.
Ye Wanwan licked the corner of her lips, hesitating for a few seconds, "Or shall I bring it over to you?"
She thought about how busy Shen Yi was, and his assistant was likely just as busy. She didn’t even know what time he had come back from working late last night because she had already been asleep by then.
Since she didn’t have anything to do, she thought it might be better to deliver it to him herself.
There was silence on the phone for a few seconds, then Shen Yi’s voice came through, "Okay, it’s cold today, so dress warmly when you go out."
"Mm, I’ll change and head out," Ye Wanwan replied as she walked out of the study with the document.
Ye Wanwan went back to her bedroom to change. She put on a black dress and paired it with a beige trench coat. After applying a light makeup, she was ready to leave with the document.
Ye Wanwan was in a good mood, humming a recent popular tune whose name she didn’t even know as she went.
By four o’clock, Ye Wanwan had already arrived in front of Jinghong Group’s office building. When she got out of the car, the wind was so strong it nearly prevented her from opening the car door.
Just as she was about to enter the building, Ye Wanwan spotted a coffee shop next to the office.
It was the same one Shen Yi had brought her to before. Remembering the good taste, she decided to go order some coffee and cake.
Unsure of how many people were working overtime in Shen Yi’s department, Ye Wanwan even sent him a message to ask how many people were there, so she could order enough coffee and cake for everyone.
