He Qingyun looked at Shen Yi, forcing a smile with difficulty, a vicious glint flashing through her eyes. "Then I shall wait and see."
Shen Yi no longer spoke, and headed straight for the door, with Assistant Chen quickly following behind.
In a place out of Shen Yi’s sight, He Qingyun ground her teeth in hatred. Her beautiful and delicate fingers pinched tightly into her palm as she struggled to contain her emotions.
However, as Shen Yi was about to exit the door, He Qingyun said lazily, "Ah, I thought I would be able to spend a spring night with President Shen today, but it seems there’s no chance."
Shen Yi, who had already reached the door, stopped again. He turned to look at He Qingyun, no longer maintaining his usual aloof demeanor, his disgust plainly visible on his face.
"I had dinner before coming here," said Shen Yi.
He Qingyun was taken aback and didn’t understand what Shen Yi meant, asking reflexively, "What are you saying?"
Shen Yi, uncharacteristically, repeated himself, "I said, I had dinner before coming here."
"And so?" He Qingyun frowned, confused by his sudden remark, not knowing where it was leading.
Shen Yi looked at her and said seriously, "Spare me the nausea, I might vomit."
The private room door was already open. The noisy sounds from outside faintly filtered in, yet there was a moment of dead silence in the room, as if one could hear a pin drop.
"Ahem!" Assistant Chen, upon hearing Manager Shen’s remark, tried to stifle his laughter.
But eventually, he couldn’t hold it in any longer and laughed out loud, so he had to quickly pretend to cough to cover it up.
He had been working with Manager Shen since graduating, for several years now, and he had never heard him say something so devoid of gentlemanly decorum.
Assistant Chen thought to himself that Miss He must be quite capable to have angered Manager Shen to the point of abandoning even the most basic gentlemanly decorum!
No matter how much He Qingyun tried to control her emotions, at this moment she couldn’t hold back any longer. The faint noise coming from outside seemed to mock her.
"Shen Yi!" He Qingyun yelled shrilly.
Shen Yi didn’t care how furious He Qingyun was at that moment and simply turned around and walked away.
Upon leaving the clubhouse, Shen Yi got into his car and ripped off his tie, appearing somewhat irritable.
He shouldn’t have wasted his time coming here today.
Shen Yi thought to himself that regardless of what He Qingyun intended to do, he had to strike first and simply end her!
After all, didn’t He Qingyun enjoy these kinds of petty tricks?
He had plenty of ways to make He Qingyun die in various "accidents."
But that was just a fleeting thought. While he truly threatened He Qingyun, he couldn’t actually do anything to her— at most, he could give her a lesson.
Precisely because of this, Shen Yi was even more infuriated, finding this far more troublesome than any issue at work!
"Manager Shen, the He family called many times today, wanting to see you," Assistant Chen spoke up from beside him.
"Don’t see them," Shen Yi refused without hesitation.
"Alright," Assistant Chen nodded, having anticipated this response.
"What’s with the injuries on He Qingyun? Were they caused by the He family?" Shen Yi suddenly asked.
He hadn’t specifically observed, but when He Qingyun met him just now in only a short skirt and low-cut top, he had seen the marks even though he didn’t want to.
There were scars on her arms and neck, one after another, clearly the result of being struck by something. He figured there must be injuries in other places as well.
