"Where were we? Right, the raffle at last year’s annual party—I actually drew a prize worth two thousand! If there’s another two thousand today, dinner is on me!" Zhang Zixuan exclaimed with high spirits.
Yu Qiqi and the others cooperated nicely, each thanking the boss in turn.
Ye Wanwan chimed in from the side, "I just got threatened, doesn’t anyone care about me?"
A few people in the office glanced at Ye Wanwan before turning their heads in unison to look at Tang Xiaorou.
Tang Xiaorou pushed up her glasses and said calmly, "As long as you don’t want to leave, no one can make you."
"Xiaorou is the best!" Ye Wanwan cooed.
The annual party of Galaxy Entertainment was held at the Liyu Hotel in the city center. Major hosts were dressed to the nines, and the event scene was comparable to a celebrity red carpet.
However, Ye Wanwan and her group had no interest in joining the fray and had entered the venue early.
"You should eat more of these cookies, I think they’re the tastiest," Ye Wanwan suggested, pointing to the dessert table nearby, directing Yu Qiqi to go there.
"Really?" Yu Qiqi was skeptical but still went and grabbed several pieces.
After tasting one, Yu Qiqi’s eyes lit up, and she nodded vigorously, "Mmm, this really is delicious!"
"Of course!" Ye Wanwan said with a hint of pride. After all, she had personally recruited the pastry chef who made them.
"Eat quickly while you can, before more people arrive." Yu Qiqi turned back to tell Su Hang and Zhang Xiaoxuan.
The two obediently nodded and hid in a corner to eat desserts together.
Gradually, the banquet hall filled with more and more people, but on such an occasion, mainly the big-name hosts were outdoing each other in glamour. Ye Wanwan and her group stayed quietly in the corner, eating and drinking.
When the annual party was halfway through, and the raffle had ended, none of them from the planning department had won anything.
Yu Qiqi yawned, "So sleepy."
"Are you a pig? Getting sleepy after eating!" Su Hang retorted, and then promptly yawned himself.
Yu Qiqi laughed uncontrollably, "Good evening, little pig George!"
Zhang Xiaoxuan checked his phone, "It’s half-past nine, shall we slip out?"
Since their presence wasn’t important and they had only come to make an appearance, leaving early wouldn’t be noticed by anyone.
"Yeah, I’m full anyway." Yu Qiqi was indifferent; she was there simply to eat and drink, after all.
So, the group stood up to walk out from the corner, ready to leave.
Ye Wanwan was walking along just fine when suddenly she heard Su Hang call out from behind, "Careful!"
Before Ye Wanwan could react, she stumbled forward. Yu Qiqi was walking in front, and naturally went tumbling down with her.
The two crashed into the nearby dessert table, causing juices and cakes to topple over.
With a clattering cacophony, the end result was Ye Wanwan and Yu Qiqi sprawling amidst the chaos.
Su Hang and Zhang Xiaoxuan, who were following behind, quickly pushed through the crowd and came to help the two up.
"Are you all right?" Su Hang helped Ye Wanwan sit up, his face filled with concern, yet hesitated to examine her further.
Ye Wanwan took a deep breath and looked up, catching sight of Ruirui Anxin in the crowd, looking down at her with smug satisfaction.
With just one look, Ye Wanwan was certain that the person who had pushed her was Ruirui Anxin!
