Mr. and Mrs. Ye arrived at the hospital at almost the same time as Mr. and Mrs. Shen, encountering each other in the elevator.
Su Xiangyi and Lin Xu looked at the insulated food jars in each other’s hands, smiling helplessly and shaking their heads.
When they reached the ward upstairs, Ye Zhenhua knocked on the door, which was soon opened.
"Dad, Mom, you’re here," Shen Yi greeted them with a slight nod.
"How’s Wanwan doing?" Su Xiangyi asked as she walked inside.
As soon as she entered, she saw Ye Wanwan’s reddened eyes and turned to glance at Shen Yi, who appeared calm, so she pretended not to have seen it.
Su Xiangyi’s face turned cold as she approached the hospital bed, placed the insulated jar on the bedside table, and then looked down at Ye Wanwan from her elevated position.
Yielding to the feeling of guilt, Ye Wanwan weakly shrank her neck.
Su Xiangyi heaved a heavy sigh and, considering that Ye Wanwan was still hospitalized, refrained from scolding her.
"Feeling any better?" Su Xiangyi did not curse, but her tone was far from pleasant.
Ye Wanwan nodded repeatedly, declaring earnestly, "I’m fine!"
"Hmph," Su Xiangyi snorted coldly, already trying to contain her anger, but it surged uncontrollably upon realizing that Ye Wanwan hadn’t learned her lesson.
"So it only counts as something wrong when you truly come to some harm, right?" Su Xiangyi said.
Ye Wanwan kept her head down, not daring to speak.
It wasn’t until Lin Xu came over to put in a good word that Su Xiangyi managed to hold back her temper.
Su Xiangyi and Lin Xu had each brought soup, and Ye Wanwan ate one portion now, saving the other for when she got hungry later.
The bruises on Ye Wanwan’s wrist were severe, the skin completely abraded in a ring, and Shen Yi couldn’t bear to make Ye Wanwan do anything herself.
While Shen Yi fed Ye Wanwan soup, the elders briefly inquired about what exactly had happened on that day, and also discussed the events after she was taken away by Ye Mingrui.
After Ye Wanwan finished eating, the elders didn’t linger any longer and simply urged her to rest well in the hospital.
That afternoon, a university student named Ren Yushi suddenly visited the police station; he was a psychology graduate student from A University.
Ren Yushi said he had a video, which captured the entire process of Qin Yansen’s corpse being dumped.
"Why do you have this video?" a detective asked suspiciously.
Ren Yushi said, "I live in the building directly opposite the site where Mr. Qin’s body was dumped."
The police questioned him, "Isn’t the villa across the street always vacant?"
Ren Yushi nodded, "It is currently vacant. I rented that villa last month, intending to open a private psychology clinic."
"Because I’ve been busy with school, I haven’t had time to renovate, but I’ve almost prepared everything inside."
"When I went there last week, I found signs that someone had been in the villa, but upon checking, I didn’t notice anything missing."
"But for safety reasons, I installed a camera at the entrance of the villa, never expecting to capture such a scene."
The detective frowned, "We thoroughly investigated the surrounding villas looking for evidence before, and didn’t find any cameras across from the crime scene."
If there had been a camera, they would have surely noticed it, as it would be vital evidence. However, despite several thorough investigations, they had never noticed the surveillance at the unoccupied villa opposite.
