"Wanwan, do you feel unwell?" Shen Yi asked in a deep voice, frowning with concern.
Ye Wanwan pursed her lips, a bit embarrassedly saying, "It’s nothing, maybe just too tired and didn’t rest well."
Shen Yi’s frown deepened, somewhat doubtful, "Or maybe we should go see the doctor?"
"No need, a bit of rest and perhaps I’ll be better tomorrow," asserted Ye Wanwan earnestly.
Could she really go to the hospital and tell the doctor that they were both out of control last night, and as a result, today she’s suffering from a sore body and lacks energy?
She truly wanted to save some face for herself.
Shen Yi was still frowning, seemingly very anxious.
He didn’t know why, but the thought of Ye Wanwan not being able to eat brought to mind an inexplicable image of her being skinny and frail.
In even his mind had emerged a scene of Ye Wanwan vomiting whatever she ate, lying on the bed, barely clinging to life.
Shen Yi subconsciously clenched his fingers, he bit down on his teeth with breaths becoming somewhat rapid.
He didn’t know why he suddenly imagined such a scene; it felt too real to be a mere figment of his imagination.
The scene was too vivid, as if it were really happening!
Ye Wanwan had put down her chopsticks again, genuinely not wanting to eat. However, turning her head, she saw the worrisome look on Shen Yi’s face.
Biting the corner of her lip, Ye Wanwan hesitated for a while before saying, "I will try drinking some soup."
Coming back to his senses, Shen Yi quickly responded, "Alright."
Yet as he stood up to serve soup for Ye Wanwan, his hands trembled uncontrollably.
"Shen Yi, you..." Ye Wanwan was somewhat baffled as she did not understand what suddenly came over him.
"I’m fine, just have the soup," said Shen Yi, struggling to contain the panic in his heart, forcing a bitter smile, and placing the bowl of soup in front of Ye Wanwan.
Ye Wanwan frowned, it was obvious that Shen Yi was worried about her, but she really didn’t feel like there was anything particularly wrong.
It was just a lack of appetite today, was there really a need for such concern?
"I’m truly fine, don’t worry about me," reassured Ye Wanwan, comforting Shen Yi.
"Mhm," Shen Yi nodded, as if he had believed Ye Wanwan’s words.
However, that very night, Shen Yi had a nightmare.
In the dream, Ye Wanwan had become so thin she was practically unrecognizable, lying weakly on the bed, seemingly without the strength to even sit up.
He personally made some porridge in the kitchen and brought it upstairs, hoping to feed her some.
Ye Wanwan cooperated, letting him help her sit up, and then ate in small bites the food he fed her.
Happy and excited to see her eating, he thought as long as she could eat, it would be fine.
But before he could celebrate for long, Ye Wanwan pushed him away and leaned over the side of the bed to vomit, spewing all the porridge she had just consumed.
In the bedroom, a bunch of people frantically dealt with the situation, and he hurriedly embraced Ye Wanwan, gently patting her back.
Yet she kept vomiting, and even after emptying her stomach, she still couldn’t help but feel the urge to throw up.
"Wanwan!" he called her name softly, not only trembling in voice but also in body.
He knew, it was fear he felt, for she hadn’t been able to eat anything for a long time!
