Ye Wanwan had some water and calmed down; looking at Shen Yi, her voice wasn’t as hoarse as before, "I want to see Zhouzhou."
"Your parents are looking after him. Do you want to drink some soup first? They’ve brought over some homemade soup," Shen Yi asked.
On the nearby long coffee table, there were several thermoses, containing the soup from home, ready for Ye Wanwan to eat as soon as she woke up.
Ye Wanwan shook her head, "I want to see Zhouzhou first."
Only when she saw Zhouzhou with her own eyes could Ye Wanwan truly feel at ease.
Seeing how determined Ye Wanwan was, Shen Yi didn’t say much else and agreed immediately, "Okay, I’ll go check and then bring Zhouzhou over."
As he spoke, Shen Yi had already stood up and was walking out of the hospital room; halfway out, he paused, turned back to Ye Wanwan, and instructed, "I’ll be back soon, lie down and don’t move around, okay?"
"Uh-huh!" Ye Wanwan nodded quickly in agreement, eagerly waiting for Shen Yi to bring Zhouzhou over.
With that, Shen Yi hurried out of the ward.
Ye Wanwan’s eyes were fixed on the direction of the hospital room door, thinking that Shen Yi would appear any second with Zhouzhou in his arms.
Perhaps because of the great anticipation, even though Shen Yi had only been gone for five minutes, it felt like a very long time to Ye Wanwan.
When the hospital room door opened again, Ye Wanwan’s heart leaped, her heartbeat sped up, and she tensed up.
The next second, Ye Wanwan saw Shen Yi walk in, cautiously holding something in his arms; she knew that he must be holding Zhouzhou, but because he was so small and wrapped up tightly, she couldn’t see him.
As Ye Wanwan tried to sit up, Shen Yi quickly said, "Don’t move, I’ll bring the baby over to you."
Shen Yi sat down on the bedside and placed Zhouzhou beside Ye Wanwan, allowing her to see the baby.
"Look, it’s our Zhouzhou," Shen Yi said softly.
Ye Wanwan had already cried once before, and she thought she could control her emotions now, but when she saw the quietly sleeping little one, she couldn’t help but get teary again and tears started falling.
She felt a deep remorse every time she thought about her past life; how could she have been so cruel to Zhouzhou?
Shen Yi knew that whatever he said now would be pointless. Even he felt deeply guilty—how could he expect Wanwan to let go easily?
Shen Yi didn’t say anything, just took a tissue and helped her wipe away her tears.
"There, there, you’re a mother now, crying during the postpartum period is the worst for your health," Su Xiangyi said.
Seeing her own daughter, who she had doted on so much, now a mother herself, there was a sense of emotion deep within her heart.
"Exactly, exactly!" Lin Xu chimed in from the side and then asked, "Has Wanwan eaten anything yet?"
"Not yet," Shen Yi replied.
Lin Xu hastily went over to check the thermoses to see what kind of soup was inside, then asked Ye Wanwan, "There’s pig’s trotter soup, chicken soup, and rib soup; which one do you want to drink, Wanwan?"
After asking, Lin Xu suddenly remembered something and hurriedly inquired, "Oh, I forgot to ask, do you plan on breastfeeding the baby or using formula?"
Lin Xu had never asked Ye Wanwan this question before; in her view, whether to breastfeed or use formula was Ye Wanwan’s choice.
