Xiao Yu’s remark left several mothers bewildered.
Indeed, though there were no people on the street, the residential houses lining both sides must have had many occupants, just that they hadn’t come out.
Now, they had to sell the strawberries to make money for food, so door-to-door sales would do as long as they could sell them, right?
"The tricycle has a horn. Xuehan could drive around playing the horn to see if anyone comes out to buy, while the three of us could go door-to-door selling. How does that sound?" Su Tong suggested.
"Sure." Zhang Xuehan had no objections. After all, she was the only one here who knew how to operate such a tricycle, "But that means you’ll have to watch this little monkey, Xiao Yu, for me."
The remaining mothers prepared to split up and take different routes. Xiao Yu was to go with Zhouzhou, claiming he would stay with Zhouzhou constantly so that Zhouzhou would like him, which prompted Wu Yaxi to decide to stick with Zhouzhou as well.
"How about Zhenzhen stays here with Wanwan, and then we split up into two groups for door-to-door selling?" Su Tong asked Zhao Yingling for her opinion.
"Sure." Zhao Yingling agreed without hesitation.
Zhao Zhenzhen seemed somewhat frightened, subconsciously gripping Zhao Yingling’s sleeve, but Zhao Yingling shook her off.
Others might not have noticed, but Ye Wanwan saw everything and found it somewhat strange, couldn’t help but take a few extra glances.
So, instead of splitting into three groups, it ended up being Ye Wanwan looking after the kids, with Su Tong and Zhao Yingling heading out to sell.
"Auntie, don’t we need to sell too?" Xiao Yu asked.
Ye Wanwan looked across the street to see a house right in front of them, a small restaurant judging by the entrance décor. The door was open, but there didn’t seem to be anyone around.
"Let’s go take a look," Ye Wanwan said and then glanced both ways to ensure there were no cars before letting the children walk ahead of her.
"Hello, is anybody there?" Ye Wanwan called out.
Little chatterbox Xiao Yu also shouted, "Hello, is anybody there?"
Thus, Wu Yaxi also called out once, with only Zhouzhou and Zhao Zhenzhen remaining silent.
Shortly after, a middle-aged woman approached from behind, looking puzzled at the people standing at the doorway, "What are you folks doing?"
Before Ye Wanwan could reply, the middle-aged woman pointed at the crew members behind Ye Wanwan, who were filming with their equipment, "Are you guys shooting a TV show?"
"Hello, big sister, we are recording a variety show," Ye Wanwan explained.
"Is it for television?" The middle-aged woman was obviously interested.
"It’s actually live broadcast. Do you know what a live broadcast is?"
"Live broadcast, oh I know all about that!" The middle-aged woman was excited, "So, you mean it’s being broadcast right now?"
"Yes," Ye Wanwan nodded.
The middle-aged woman quickly tidied her hair, apparently concerned about her appearance, and even cleared her throat before asking, "So, what do you want with me?"
Young Xiao Yu rushed to answer, "Auntie, could you buy our strawberries?"
"Yes, could you buy our strawberries? They’re really delicious!" As Xiao Yu spoke, he took a strawberry out of the basket Ye Wanwan was carrying.
The middle-aged woman looked at Ye Wanwan, who then hastily explained, and the woman nodded, "So if I buy your strawberries, can you help promote our restaurant as well?"
