Shen Yi got held up upstairs for a while, so he didn’t have much time for breakfast. He ate breakfast quickly and prepared to head to the office.
Meanwhile, Ye Wanwan was still watching Zhouzhou eat his solids, which seemed like it would take a bit longer.
"I’m off to the office," Shen Yi stood up, buttoned up his suit, and prepared to leave for work.
"Mhm, you go," Ye Wanwan responded, yet didn’t spare Shen Yi an extra glance.
Shen Yi stood still, feeling completely ignored. Even when Zhouzhou was just born, he hadn’t managed to capture all of Ye Wanwan’s attention like now.
This feeling, well, it was somewhat unpleasant.
Shen Yi walked over to Zhouzhou, leaned down to kiss his forehead, and said, "Daddy’s going to work, Zhouzhou. Have fun at home."
Then he walked over to Ye Wanwan. Looking down at her as she looked up at him, her eyes wide with confusion, she asked, "What is it?"
Shen Yi cupped her head in his hand and leaned down to kiss her lips, even giving her a light, punishing nibble before letting go of her, "I’m off to the office."
Ye Wanwan’s face flushed with Shen Yi’s sudden affectionate act, she scolded, "Zhouzhou is watching!"
"I’m going," Shen Yi said, then reached out to touch her hair one more time before leaving the dining room.
Ye Wanwan watched Shen Yi’s retreating figure, feeling it odd. If he was just going to work, why did he have to say it so many times?
After puzzling over it for a while, Ye Wanwan snapped back to reality and continued watching Zhouzhou eat breakfast.
After finishing breakfast, Ye Wanwan played with Zhouzhou on the crawling mat in the living room. She took out her phone and shared with Su Xiangyi and Lin Xu about Zhouzhou calling her "mommy."
And it wasn’t just a single occurrence; Zhouzhou had said it many, many times.
To give them a clearer picture, Ye Wanwan even recorded a video.
In the video, Zhouzhou was playing with a toy train. Ye Wanwan asked, "Zhouzhou, who am I?"
Zhouzhou looked up, paused for a few seconds, and then called out in his baby voice, "Mommy!"
Ye Wanwan coaxed him, "Can you say it again, please?"
So Zhouzhou truly said it once more.
After the video was sent to the group chat, Su Xiangyi and Lin Xu both incessantly messaged, clearly very excited.
After lunch, it was time for Zhouzhou’s nap, but he clung to Ye Wanwan, not letting go even when the nanny, Aunt Yang, came to pick him up.
Ye Wanwan, finally enjoying moments of Zhouzhou’s clinginess, willingly took Zhouzhou back to the bedroom, told him a story, soothed him to sleep, then lay down beside him, napping together.
When Shen Yi returned from work in the evening, Ye Wanwan shared with him how Zhouzhou had spoken so many times today; she was incredibly excited about it.
Naturally, Shen Yi was happy too. After dinner, he and Ye Wanwan took Zhouzhou and Taozhi for a walk outside.
Zhouzhou held one hand of Ye Wanwan and the leash in the other, walking unsteadily forward, with Shen Yi following behind, watching them laugh and frolic.
After returning home from the walk, they bathed Zhouzhou, and then it was Shen Yi’s turn to tell a bedtime story and coax him to sleep, since Shen Yi had to work and had less time with Zhouzhou.
However, by the time Ye Wanwan finished her shower and came out, Shen Yi still hadn’t managed to get Zhouzhou to sleep.
