Shen Yi didn’t know whether Ye Wanwan had fallen into this state since she went to sleep last night or some other time.
But since he couldn’t wake her up this morning, more than ten hours had passed, and Ye Wanwan had still not awakened.
"Mom, you guys go back first," Shen Yi stood up and looked at Lin Xu and Shen Yun’an sitting on the other side of the couch, with Zhouzhou asleep in Lin Xu’s arms.
Lin Xu and Shen Yun’an exchanged glances. With Ye Wanwan’s condition being so complicated, how could they leave with peace of mind?
Shen Yi knew what they were thinking and thus said, "You take Zhouzhou back to rest first, I need to stay with Wanwan. I really don’t have the energy to look after Zhouzhou here."
Zhouzhou was a very sensitive child. He could clearly feel the change in emotions of the people around him. Since the morning, his mood had been very agitated.
It was not until a short while ago, presumably because he was truly tired, that he fell asleep in Lin Xu’s arms.
After all, he was just a child of a little over two years old, and Shen Yi couldn’t bear to let him be afraid along with the rest of them.
Lin Xu and Shen Yun’an, knowing they wouldn’t be much help by staying, decided to take good care of Zhouzhou and not give Shen Yi extra worries.
"Don’t worry about Zhouzhou, we will take good care of him," Lin Xu said.
"Then we will head back first." While speaking, Lin Xu stood up with Zhouzhou in her arms, and Shen Yun’an quickly reached out to take Zhouzhou from her.
Shen Yi escorted them to the door of the ward. Lin Xu looked at him anxiously, "You need to take care of Wanwan, be sure to eat something, alright?"
"Alright," Shen Yi nodded.
Knowing that nothing she said now would make a difference, Lin Xu didn’t say anything else and left with Zhouzhou.
After they had left, Shen Yi returned to the ward and sat down next to the bed.
Looking at the tranquil and steadily breathing Ye Wanwan lying on the hospital bed, Shen Yi’s face was etched with exhaustion and worry.
"Wanwan, what exactly is wrong with you?" Shen Yi asked with a hoarse voice.
But there was no one to respond to him. He couldn’t control the sourness in his nose as he held Ye Wanwan’s hand and then lowered his head to press his forehead against her hand for a very, very long time without recovering.
Until late into the night, Shen Yi still didn’t feel the slightest hint of sleepiness. His eyes were bloodshot as he stared unwaveringly at Ye Wanwan.
He continued to keep watch over Ye Wanwan until the next morning, with no indication that she intended to wake up.
When the doctor arrived for a checkup, Shen Yi felt dizzy as he got up.
He stood aside, watching a group of doctors surround Ye Wanwan, checking her vitals at that moment.
When the examination was over, Ye Wanwan’s primary doctor came to Shen Yi with a serious look and said, "Mr. Shen, Mrs. Shen’s condition is very complicated, and so far we have not found the reason for Mrs. Shen’s coma..."
Shen Yi couldn’t make out the rest of the words clearly. He only knew that they had no way to wake Ye Wanwan up!
The panic and worry in Shen Yi’s heart at that moment turned into rage!
"How can so many of you not be able to determine why she’s in a coma? What kind of doctors are you?" Shen Yi exclaimed in frustration and anger.
The doctors in the room said nothing, partly because they understood the anxiousness he was feeling, and partly because they felt shameful for not having found the cause even after so long.
