The CEO’s Substitute Wife Is A Genius Chapter 61

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Crazy Face-Slapping, Sister Man Takes Down Four Single-handedly Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Crazy Face-Slapping, Sister Man Takes Down Four Single-handedly “What… conditions?” Wen Jingya had a bad premonition, her speech faltering as she met Jiang Man’s sinister gaze, immediately diverting her eyes elsewhere.

“Easy, just give this girl three slaps in the face, and we’ll consider the matter settled,” Jiang Man said, arms folded across her chest, standing tall and straight.

Already taller than most girls, her height of one meter seventy made her stand out even more in a crowd where many were one sixty or even one fifty-five, towering over them by a decent margin.

Her presence was dominating, casting a shadow over their sight and bringing with it an unprecedented sense of oppression.

The moment Roommate Three heard she had to slap herself, she became frantic, jumping up and down: “Who the hell are you? What gives you the right to tell me to slap myself?”

“Me?…” Jiang Man’s laugh was creepy, “Who am I? Do you even deserve to know?”

“You…” Roommate Three was furious, but she was observant.

She knew this girl was different from a shop assistant—a shop assistant is just a regular employee, and it’s done once they’ve been hit.

This girl was not someone to mess with; if someone could reserve an entire place and sit in a restaurant to eat, her status was naturally extraordinary.

Even if her status was ordinary, the two men inside, especially the middle-aged man, carried themselves with a certain distinction, clearly of significant importance.

It’s a world where people bully the weak and fear the strong, and Wen Jingya’s roommate was no exception.

“Yaya, say something!” Roommate Three was dying of anxiousness: “Aren’t you the young master of the Lu Family…”

Before she could finish her sentence, she was silenced by a hard slap across her face.

Roommate Three was in disbelief, covering the pained side of her face.

Wen Jingya gritted her teeth and swung at Roommate Three’s other cheek.

“Ah—” Roommate Three cried out in pain.

Wen Jingya frowned and continued to raise her hand, putting force into another slap.

Slap—

After her hand had struck, she raised her eyebrows to Jiang Man: “Is that satisfactory?”

“Apologize to this shop assistant,” Jiang Man commanded without a trace of anger.

Wen Jingya objected, “Didn’t you say slapping my roommate three times would suffice? Why still apologize? You’re going back on your word!”

“Do I need to act virtuous against petty people?” Jiang Man scoffed, examining and flicking dirt from underneath her nails, her eyebrows tinged with irritation: “My patience is limited.”

“Fine!” Wen Jingya clenched her fists, glowering at her roommate: “Apologize quickly!”

Roommate Three was stupefied: “Yaya… you…”

“Hurry up…” Wen Jingya lowered her voice with a hint of pleading.

Roommate Three felt terrible, but she was a coward.

Reluctantly stepping forward, she approached the shop assistant: “I’m sorry…”

Her voice was low, muffled as if she were speaking through a jar of sugar.

The shop assistant, surprised and flattered, took it as a win.

People in their position, the lower-class workers, often swallowed their grievances.

No one ever stood up for them.

This was the first time the shop assistant felt she was being treated fairly, and her nose tingled as her eyes brimmed with tears.

“Louder! Are you mute?” Jiang Man completely lost her patience, the hot pot still boiling, and she didn’t have time to waste on these wretched people.

“I’m sorry!” This time, Roommate Three’s volume was louder.

“Close the door!” Jiang Man gave her a dismissive look and instructed the store manager.

The manager was respectful, gesturing for the clerk to go in first. She walked in last, closing the glass door behind her.

Wen Jingya and her three roommates were thus left outside, rejected like homeless dogs.

“Yaya, what’s going on with you today? Is that woman that influential? Why are you so afraid of her?” Roommate Three covered her face, crying.

Wen Jingya was seething with indignation but managed to keep herself from lashing out, “She used to be an orphan, married into a wealthy family, and suddenly got all arrogant.”

“Which wealthy family can compare to the Lu Family?” Roommate One wondered, puzzled.

Roommate Two chimed in, “Yaya, you’re Lu Xingzhou’s fiancée, why would you be afraid of her?”

“We’re all from wealthy circles; we see each other all the time. Besides, I haven’t married into the family yet. It doesn’t seem right to flaunt my status as Xingzhou’s fiancée before then,” said Wen Jingya with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes, quickly changing the subject, “Yanyan, didn’t you fancy an LV bag? I’ll give you one.”

Roommate Three, named Zhang Yanyan, was the one who had brought her boyfriend to their room some days ago and had an argument with Wen Jingya.

“Yaya, are you serious? That bag costs forty thousand yuan!” Zhang Yanyan couldn’t believe it.

Wen Jingya smiled, her lips curving dismissively, “I planned to treat you to a fancy meal originally, but since that didn’t happen and you even got slapped, Yanyan, I’m really sorry. I hit you just now to keep the peace—it’s my way of apologizing.”

“Ah, Yaya, you have such a kind heart. So what if she married into a wealthy family? You’re not afraid of her. I know you didn’t want to show off as Mrs. Lu and kept a low profile on purpose.”

“Glad you understand,” Wen Jingya took Zhang Yanyan’s hand.

A forty-thousand yuan bag, enough to buy someone’s loyalty, including a facade of friendship.

When the four left Hu’s Hong Kong-style hotpot restaurant, Wen Jingya took out her phone and surreptitiously snapped a photo inside.

A minute later, Lu Xingzhou received the photo sent by Wen Jingya.

[Brother Zhou, I was out shopping with my roommates today, and I saw sister-in-law dating another man… I think, Brother, should you announce your marriage? Otherwise, other men aren’t aware that sister-in-law is taken, and she keeps getting harassed.]

Lu Xingzhou saw the message first and immediately frowned, displeased.

He quickly opened the photo and enlarged it.

When he recognized the man in the photo as Wu Yingfan, he breathed a sigh of relief.

But then, he was back to being completely lost.

He believed what Jiang Man had told him, that she and Wu Yingfan were merely friends.

Being friends was acceptable, but meeting alone frequently, sticking together more than with her own husband—it was impossible for him to feel completely indifferent about it.

Without second thoughts, he immediately called Wen Jingya.

“Hello? Brother?” A soft voice came through immediately.

“Don’t tell Grandma about the photo, nor Second Aunt or Aunt, not a single person! Do you really think Second Aunt and Aunt won’t come storming to Rong Mansion with Grandma if they find out? Don’t you think I’d know it was you? I can forgive you the first time, but I won’t be so lenient the second time! Watch yourself!”

“Brother Zhou, listen to me explain…”

Lu Xingzhou hung up before Wen Jingya could finish.

He detested people who played smart, thinking they were clever, constantly calculating and taking others for fools.

If it weren’t for the fact that Wen Jingya had been raised in the Lu family for over twenty years, he might not even acknowledge her as his sister.

“BOSS.” Just when Lu Xingzhou was fuming with anger, Zhao Huai came in with a stack of documents.

“Representatives from the National Research Institute have come to sign the contract, BOSS. Please take a look, and if there are no issues, I’ll proceed with the legal formalities.”

Lu Xingzhou took the documents, scanned them carefully, pulled out a pen from the holder, and signed his name in a fluid motion, “Go ahead with the procedures.”

“Yes,” Zhao Huai took the documents and was about to leave.

Lu Xingzhou paused for a moment and called him back, “How’s the negotiation with them? Can Dr. M come to visit Lu Corporation?”
