The Chef Rules the Last Days Chapter 212

Why did those memories feel so real?

From beginning to end, he had participated in her childhood as an observer.

Su Mo’s ears twitched, and she immediately opened her eyes with alertness, noticing the rope tied around Lu Jin trembling.

She picked up the Tang Blade, her back slightly arched, raising her alertness to the utmost, "Awake now?"

Lu Jin said nothing, and his attempt to break free from the rope also ceased. He just gazed intently at his undamaged chest, "What did you do?"

Clutching the knife, Su Mo could clearly see the fleeting fierceness in his face through the pitch-black night, "As you can see, I saved your life."

Lu Jin looked up, his dark eyes fixed on her, perfectly aligning with the small face he remembered, his expression somewhat bizarre.

Su Mo frowned, then asked, "Who is Su Yao? I heard you calling his name."

Lu Jin’s expression suddenly became wicked, his chiseled face carrying malice, "Want to know?"

Just as she was about to speak, from beneath the trees, pairs of eerie green eyes gleamed unusually bright in the pitch-dark night.

Su Mo suddenly curled her lips into a smile, getting into the spirit of the game, she lightheartedly addressed the vine tied to the trunk, "Just recovered, you should be weak in the limbs, right? How about, I let you down to play a bit?"

The bushes rustled as one Mutant Wild Wolf after another emerged from their dens, its clear from the blood trails they followed him here.

Rarely, Lu Jin did not get angry, the agitation in his chest subsided almost as soon as it appeared, his dark, narrow eyes locked on her, his tongue briefly peeking out to lick his lips, "I didn’t expect you to be quite adorable as a child."

Watching her grow up bit by bit, his desire to tear her into pieces and frame her in a picture to store away in the Space intensified increasingly.

Su Mo understood, he must have also peeked into her past, was the reaction of the flagellated algae a swap of illusions from their childhood?

That would be interesting, Su Mo’s laughter grew even more buoyant, even the wolves pacing restlessly below were temporarily ignored, "You were quite adorable as a child too, being falsely accused by your mother of being a murderer must have been tough, right?"

Lu Jin’s pupils contracted sharply, as buried memories surfaced, quickly filling his entire mind.

Su Mo saw his expression become rigid.

Thinking she had touched a painful spot, Su Mo supported her cheek with one hand, but pressed the Tang Blade deeper into the vine with the other, "What, no words now?"

His gaze was heavy as he watched her, his chest concealing a heart that only he could feel pounding fiercely.

Su Mo, feeling his stare, unconsciously got goose bumps, "What was that look in his eyes?"

"What are you doing?" Su Mo pouted, standing up from the trunk and looking down at him with impatience, "Since you snooped through my memories, don’t I get to mention yours?"

Lu Jin looked down, his face somewhat twisted, finally his mouth widened into an increasingly split grin, his aura carrying a chilling terror, "Pull me up, I’ll tell you myself."

Su Mo frowned at him, seemingly considering the feasibility of the idea.

The two of them remained at a deadlock, even as the number of wild wolves below grew, after much consideration and knowing she would still need him later, she eventually chose to pull him up.

Of course, before his strength was fully recovered, she made sure to tie him up securely.

Su Mo placed the knife against his neck, deliberately making a sour face to appear more frightening.

Lu Jin paid no heed to the blade on his neck, even as it drew a line of blood, he just stared straight at her, his eyes a storm of gathering tempest and boundless madness.

That look made Su Mo quite uncomfortable. "I think, it would be better if the wolves ate you."

She suddenly sheathed her Tang Blade, planning to simply kick him off.

"I know Su Yao," Lu Jin looked at her, his eyes dark and brooding.

"Oh?" Su Mo became interested.

"Could you tell me what benefit is there for me?" Lu Jin’s gaze shifted to her neck.

Feeling a chill on her neck, Su Mo met his gaze with a smile, her tone cold, "Lu Jin, you broke my rib, and I saved your life. You do the math, do I still need benefits? You should owe me instead."

He looked at her for a good while without speaking. Just when Su Mo’s patience had run out, he said:

"I stayed until you were grown before I came out."

The conversation wasn’t to the point.

But evidently, their timelines were not the same. Su Mo had only appeared during his childhood, and no wonder, he had woken up so much later than she had.

"Su Yao is my father? What does he have to do with the virus? Did you see anything else?" Su Mo immediately threw out a series of questions. What she most wanted to know was about her system, this object from beyond the heavens, wondering if it was also related to them.

Leaning against the tree trunk, Lu Jin licked his cracked lips, "So many questions, which should I answer first?"

Below them was the undulating howl of the wolf pack, and his demeanor resembled that of a demon savoring a recent kill, as he then said, "Why don’t you tell me first, what did you see?"

Su Mo was startled, beginning to assess Lu Jin thoroughly. Something was off. From the beginning, he had been very off.

Lu Jin, a man who enjoyed killing, did not seem like someone who liked to beat around the bush. She tentatively asked, "Do you have any memories from your childhood?"

How did she feel that the effect of the flagellated algae was far from as simple as she thought? Could her existence have truly caused a butterfly effect in the past?

The usual murderous and violent look was hidden in Lu Jin’s eyes again as he pursed his lips, staring at her for a long while, and finally said, "No."

Suppressing the impulse to tear her apart, he looked down, observing the base of the tree trunk, "They are about to climb up."

Only then did Su Mo snap back to reality and look down. There were about seven or eight wolves below, and even more hidden in the woods.

A few were already clawing at the tree trunk, their sharp claws hooking into the tree and climbing up.

For a moment, Su Mo hesitated. Wolves were notoriously vengeful creatures. Killing one would probably attract the entire pack’s attack.

"If you aren’t sure, you could untie me," Lu Jin said. He actually had the power to shred these vines and then choke her neck, questioning why she had left back then, but he patiently refrained.

Su Mo glanced at him and decisively shook her head, "Impossible. Let’s just wait here until they disperse."

She held onto her Tang Blade, her gaze locked on the wolf pack below. The leading wolf had already climbed halfway up.

The gripping strength of those paws was even greater than she imagined.

It definitely seemed Level 3.

If it came down to it, she would have to kill one at a time.

Waiting for the wolf pack to disperse was clearly not going to happen. As soon as the first wolf reached them, Su Mo cleanly thrust her blade, transpiercing the large head.
