“That’s the way, bro.” Zhao Chuchu patted his shoulder.
Xie Heng turned to look at her slender and fair hands. “You still want a farm, right? Are you planning to grow some crops that the Wei Dynasty didn’t have as well?”
“No. It’s just your good ol’ rice,” Zhao Chuchu replied with a smile. “If I can grow the paddy successfully, we’ll be swimming in money.”
“Oh?”
“You’ll see.”
Zhao Chuchu winked at him and kept him in suspense.
As Xie Heng gazed at her, he felt as if his encounter with her was that of a fairy in the woods.

“The surprise will be a big one.” Zhao Chuchu stood up. “Okay, it’s getting late already. I’ll take a shower now. You can prepare some potato dishes if you want to eat them now.”
“Aren’t these the seeds?”
“You can eat them before the buds sprout. But, once the shoots begin to grow, you’ll get food poisoning.”
Xie Heng nodded.
Zhao Chuchu went to her room to get clean clothes and headed to the bathroom.
Xie Heng remained squatted in the same spot, grabbing and rotating the potatoes while scrutinizing them.
If potatoes were as good as she said, they could prevent many unfortunate events from happening.
After showering, Zhao Chuchu noticed Xie Heng was still staring at the potatoes. So, she couldn’t help but tease, “They’re not pretty women. Beautiful flowers won’t grow from them even if you stare at them all night, you know?”
As Xie Heng lifted his eyes, the dim light from the candle glinted on his delicate and misty countenance, making him appear more enigmatic.
Xie Heng stood to his feet. “Are you hungry?”
“Are you making supper?” Zhao Chuchu instantly brightened up at the mention of food, as she could never forget the taste of Xie Heng’s cooking.
Zhao Chuchu still missed the taste of the sesame mochi from the other night.
“Yeah. I want to try making the fried potato pancake you mentioned earlier.” Xie Heng picked a few potatoes and walked past the door before twisting his head back to ask, “Am I taking too many of them?”
“No, don’t sweat it. It’s just nice.” Zhao Chuchu went looking for a basket and filled up half of it. “Let’s go and make some pancakes.”
Xie Heng remarked, “Um… You seemed to love good food a lot?”
“Well, bread is the staff of life. It’s a shame I’m bad at cooking. I wonder if Da Lang could recreate the cuisine from my homeland.” Expectation and anticipation were written all over Zhao Chuchu’s face. She could still wait a little longer if it were for scrumptious dishes.
