“Yes, sir, I assure you the task will be completed.”
“Very good, I look forward to you becoming an excellent soldier,” Mr. Major General said with an approving nod. “Current military and political factions are complicated, and the circle of nobles has also reached a point of choosing sides. From now on, you represent not only yourself but also the Fu Family, and me.”
Lin Fu was somewhat puzzled. “So?”

“Wait, don’t go,” Lin Fu called out. “You, switch back to your original voice.” She hadn’t forgotten last night’s decision.
Even a female robot wouldn’t do.
The robot’s face flashed an eerily humanlike expression of joy, its voice quivering, “Thank you, madam, for your graciousness.” Then it cheerfully went to prepare breakfast.
“What does it mean?” Lin Fu finally realized something was off.
Having finished discussing official matters, Fu Xing’s expression was no longer as stern and serious as before. He lightly laughed and said, “Its personality was set as male, and you changing it to a female voice was causing it distress.”
Lin Fu scratched her head sheepishly, her dense, soft, slightly curled hair becoming a bit disheveled as a few strands playfully danced upon her nose.
All of a sudden, a pair of slender jade-like fingers loomed before her. Lin Fu instinctively froze until the hand helped to sweep her hair back, and only when it withdrew did she come to her senses.
Her heart felt as if it had been dipped in honey, so sweet.
“Fu Xing, may I call you that?” she said, moving her chair closer.
The man’s gaze remained cool and collected as if the previous gesture had been a routine act devoid of any emotion.
“In public, Imperial law doesn’t allow it, and while I wouldn’t mind, you would face censure from others,” he explained seriously.
“So strict,” Lin Fu muttered discontentedly. “No wonder Fu Tian and Fu Yue were calling you Mr. Major General when they collected me. So, there’s actually such a rule.”
“It applies only to military officers with rank. Is there anything else you don’t understand?”
“Yes, quite a lot,” Lin Fu eagerly raised her hand, even more obedient than a primary school student, while inching even closer to a certain proud and abstinent man.
The Empire’s military uniform looked irresistibly charming on him, impossible to refuse.
Lin Fu couldn’t help but adore it.
“Ask your questions, but stop fidgeting,” the man finally lowered the hand that had been propped against his cheek, impassively pushing the little wife who was nearly in his arms a bit farther away.
“Having only met yesterday, I really can’t say I do,” he replied earnestly, not avoiding her gaze. A stoic and hardened soldier, he had long since ingrained calmness and rationality into his bones, and would not allow himself to be swayed by beauty or impulsiveness.
Although Fu Xing had never been moved by any woman, it didn’t mean he was like an impulsive young lad.
If Mr. Major General were really so easily swayed, he wouldn’t have remained single for thirty years.
