Fu Xing paused before asserting, "Lin Fu did well, acted righteously, and helped a classmate. This behavior should be commended."
Monger was dumbfounded.
How did the Lady manage to do it? In just a short time, she made the Commander break the bottom line again.
Last time there was a fight, it resulted in solitary confinement and a demerit!
This time it was considered a righteous act worthy of praise. Something must have happened in between.
Monger clearly remembered last time he reported the fighting incident to the Lady, the Commander had said, "I have no objection to Lin Fu being in solitary confinement, but if anyone dares to use their power to bully her, chop off their claws for me."
Now, even the confinement was waived.
Although Monger internally complained non-stop, he still maintained his professionalism.
"Yes, I will immediately communicate with the school, voice our perspective, and hope that the school will adopt it."
Of course, these were just official words. It was hard for anyone to disregard Major General Fu Xing’s expectations.
After Monger left, Fu Xing received a reminder from the Confidential Secretary’s office that he needed to attend a small meeting at the Military Department in the afternoon. Just as he and Horace stepped out of the office, he received a message.
Fu Xing’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Fu Yang is back from the fortress."
Horace raised an eyebrow. "This is going to be trouble. He must be back after learning of Ding Xuan’s death from Admiral Fu Guang. Fu Yang has a fiery temper; he’s definitely going to give the Lady a hard time."
Fu Yang was the second son of Admiral Fu Guang and thus Fu Xing’s cousin. He shared the inherited trait of the Fu Family to fiercely protect one another. Even though Ding Xuan was only an adopted daughter, since she was his sister, her demise wouldn’t sit well with Fu Yang.
After saying this, Horace could not help but look sympathetically at Fu Xing.
As the brother who supported the family from an early age, his siblings had never caused him worry. Now, though he was married, all the worries he should have had seemed to have accumulated all at once.
Horace felt like the Commander had married a real challenge.
"Lin Fu is going to train on Desolate Star Three in three days. Keep Fu Yang detained during these three days."
That settled it, between his cousin and his wife, the Commander didn’t even hesitate to personally order the detention of his own cousin.
When the two reached the Military Department, the other attendees had already arrived.
They were just waiting for Fu Xing.
Joshua, upon seeing Fu Xing enter, happily stood up and waved, "Over here, sit next to me."
Fu Xing instinctively frowned.
The other attendees teased, "Fu Xing has his own seat, he wouldn’t want to sit with you."
Fu Xing coldly glanced at Joshua, then sat down at the spot marked with his nameplate.
Unabashed, Joshua swapped his nameplate with the vacant spot next to Fu Xing, prompting playful remarks from the other high-level generals in the meeting room.
"Do you know the content of this meeting?"
"Hmm?" Fu Xing narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of mockery flickering in them. "I have a vague guess."
"Knew I couldn’t fool you, you sly fox," Joshua wasn’t surprised. "The Minister of Military Affairs convened this meeting ostensibly because the frontline of the conflict between the Empire and the Free Federation is breaking down constantly. They want to send a proper Cosmic Fleet to reclaim our honor and teach those arrogant fools a lesson."
While speaking, Joshua gestured towards Fu Xing, himself, and a stern-looking middle-aged man sitting diagonally across.
