Lin Fu stared blankly at Fu Xing’s sleeping face as he leaned against the bed.
In sleep, he lost some of his usual aloofness, and that touch of heartbreakingly tender temperament became even more apparent. Just watching him, Lin Fu felt as if she could hear the sound of her heart shattering.
Unable to resist, Lin Fu reached out to touch his cheek; his skin was smooth and flawless like jade. Her fingers traced along his high nose bridge and swept over his red lips and profound eyebrows.
Lin Fu really wanted to ask him what he was thinking.
His boundless indulgence towards her, yet he never allowed her to see into his heart.
So distant yet so close.
How could one person be half fire and half ice?
Was the indulgence real?
Or was the unfathomable depth the reality?
Lin Fu suddenly smiled; the thick sorrow in her eyes completely concealed.
She was never one to indulge in self-pity. Living happily and joyfully, not yielding unless necessary, that was her.
Let the floodwaters rage; at worst, it was just a life.
While alive, there was no need to think too much.
When dead, there would be no chance to think at all.
This was from a previous life when her body was weak and she was gravely ill. Living another day was a gain for her.
"Have you stared enough?"
A husky voice suddenly sounded.
Lin Fu instinctively answered, "No, I can’t get enough." As she spoke, she met Fu Xing’s direct gaze; his intense eyes seemed as if they could burn her.
Lin Fu’s cheeks reddened. Even though she was usually thick-skinned, she uncharacteristically felt shy and lowered her head to avoid Fu Xing’s burning gaze.
Suddenly, the sound of rustling clothes rang beside her ears. Out of curiosity, Lin Fu looked over and saw Fu Xing taking off his bulky military coat and throwing it on the ground. Underneath, he wore only a pure white shirt tucked into a dark silver belt, barely concealing his tight mermaid line and beautiful six-pack abs.
The man’s ambiguous voice sounded beside her ear, as Fu Xing suddenly leaned closer, his lips brushing against her earlobe, his low and pleasant voice almost too powerful at such close range.
Especially as the breath of his words brushed against her skin, warm and strange sensations made her body involuntarily tremble slightly.
"Like it but won’t give it."
The man finally revealed his bad nature, chuckled mockingly, and threw off the blanket to climb into bed.
He audaciously burrowed into the covers.
"What... did you take the wrong medicine?"
Lin Fu stared in amazement, really wanting to check if Fu Xing was feverish, which might have damaged his brain to make him take the initiative to get into bed.
Wasn’t this throwing herself into the tiger’s den?
Tsk tsk tsk... Such thoughts about herself.
She was a little fairy; a fairy should be reserved.
"You’re the one on medication, not me." Fu Xing changed to a comfortable position. The conditions aboard the Starship couldn’t compare with home; even the bed was smaller, only 1.5 meters, not too cramped for two people.
But though Fu Xing looked lean, his height and long legs gave him a strong presence.
Once he lay down, Lin Fu felt as if her breathing space had been squeezed.
Subconsciously, she scooted inward but ended up in pain all over, her face pale as she fell back onto the bed.
"See! I told you that you’re the one who should be taking medication." Not only did Fu Xing offer no comfort, but he also maliciously took her pillow, infuriating Lin Fu.
Why was he being so terrible?
The first time they met, she had taken the bed, and he had been very cold, unwilling to share the bed with her.
So, had he changed his mind now?
Lin Fu felt something was amiss, but she couldn’t quite pinpoint it.
