All these old classmates knew that Meng Keqin had loved Fu Xing for a whole decade, and everyone assumed that Meng Keqin would eventually move the indifferent Fu Xing, it was just a matter of time.
Moson took a glass of wine from a tray beside him and handed one to Meng Keqin, he sipped lightly before sighing, "When the Military Department and the Royal Family simultaneously announced it across the Empire, I was at a gathering with friends, everyone was surprised."
He seemed to recall the scene as he finished speaking, still finding it amusing, and chuckled, "No one expected it, it was too sudden, we hadn’t received the slightest hint beforehand, many speculated there must be some inside story, like a political marriage? But it doesn’t seem like it now."
Meng Keqin drained her glass in one gulp, her eyes squinting slightly, and said impassively, "I was in the distant Jilan Star System at the time, I saw the notification an entire month later than you all." No one knew how heartbreakingly sad she had been at that moment.
No one could understand her pain.
"You’re very strong, always the prideful person in our hearts." Moson encouraged, "I hope you can keep being strong, let go of what needs to be let go."

Moson stepped to the side and gestured to Josiah, who was laughing and chatting with someone, "It’s not me who is afraid, it’s Major General Josiah’s intention."
Rather than say Josiah has a big mouth, it was more like a kind warning to Meng Keqin.
It was a hint for her to give up!
"What kind of person do you think I am?" Meng Keqin straightened her back proudly, glancing at Josiah with a flash of hatred inside her heart, and asked with a light smile, "Josiah and I never got along well, but what about you guys?"
"If Lin Fu and I became enemies, which side would you take?"
Moson looked at her in surprise, "Why would you ask such a childish question? It’s more fitting if you asked who we would save first if you and Lin Fu fell into the water."
It was supposed to be a joke, but Meng Keqin took it seriously, "Then, if Lin Fu and I fell into the water, who would you save first?"
The atmosphere between them tensed up.
"Ha!" Meng Keqin scoffed in self-derision, "We’re classmates, comrades-in-arms, we’ve shared a deep friendship for over a decade, you haven’t even spoken to Lin Fu, and yet you find such a question difficult?"
Moson’s expression turned serious, "It’s not like that."
"You’re forcing us old classmates to choose sides, to take a stand." Moson truly disliked such dilemmas, "Choosing to save you is one thing, but we all understand the underlying implications. If one day your conflict with Lin Fu escalates like that of Princess Therese, if you and Lin Fu were to duel, would we then have to help you kill her?"
His tone had grown very serious by the end.
They were all cool-headed, restrained Imperial Soldiers, they would never let emotions cloud their judgment, Meng Keqin forcing them to choose was clearly her losing control of her emotions.
Meng Keqin’s face finally turned pale, but it quickly turned into an excited flush.
Moson’s words had reminded her.
"You value Fu Xing’s choices the most, not whether we help you."
"Moson, you are dodging the issue." Meng Keqin raised her eyebrows, "I asked because you all are the most important people in my heart, classmates, dear friends, if you weren’t so important to me, I wouldn’t reveal my most vulnerable side to you."
