Despite being a notorious madman, Randall was a noble, educated at the Royal Starship Academy, and had no connections with the faction from the First Military Command College. He definitely would not bother with polite formalities with Meng Keqin.
"Meng Colonel, I’m intruding," Randall said with a smile that was neither warm nor cold, but it was uncomfortable no matter how one looked at it.
"What do you want from me so late at night?"
Meng Keqin was aware of Randall’s reputation as a madman, and she instinctively heightened her guard.
"Here’s the thing, our Commander ordered me to send you away. You’re not fit to stay on Capital Star, so the paperwork was processed overnight, and arrangements were made for you to return to your station," Randall said, and with a sinister smile, he added cheerily, "and never come back."
The words "never come back" hit Meng Keqin like a boulder, leaving her disoriented and in agony.
Yet, Randall showed no sympathy at all.
This woman had almost ruined the Commander’s marriage as soon as she returned; she definitely couldn’t stay on Capital Star any longer.
Oh, right! She also caused the death of three of his subordinates and ruined the career of another.
What? She didn’t know? She claims she’s innocent?
That’s what made her even more dangerous and shameless!
If she hadn’t implied it, would her subordinates have acted impulsively?
As subordinates, they wouldn’t stir up trouble for no reason; surely, Meng Keqin’s actions or words must have given something away.
Randall hated such people the most, those who treated their subordinates like expendable pawns.
Maybe she didn’t mean to kill anyone, but that just shows she’s brainless, provoking someone who absolutely shouldn’t be provoked. Anyone with a brain could foresee the outcome.
"Meng Colonel, please leave."
"No!" Meng Keqin finally snapped back to reality, "I won’t go; this isn’t true, this can’t be true. I want to see Fu Xing, I need to see Fu Xing."
"The Commander doesn’t want to see you, nor does he have time," replied Randall coldly.
At that moment, Meng Keqin had lost the halo of adoration that once followed her, missing the fervent admirers and thus, a dazzling presence.
She had her own pride and confidence, yet it was shaken by this sudden command.
"Meng Colonel, don’t waste my time."
"Wait!" Meng Keqin suppressed the anxiety inside her, forcing herself to calm down, "I belong to the Special Action Team; I’m not under the jurisdiction of the Eighth Fleet. What right do you have to expel me? Humph! You’re overstepping your bounds."
Thinking she was being frightened.
"Talking about ’never coming back,’ that’s ridiculous. I, Meng Keqin, am an Imperial Colonel, not just some commoner you can bully."
Regaining her pride through her words, Meng Keqin even began to speculate a more likely scenario.
Perhaps, the order wasn’t from Fu Xing at all.
It could be that Lin Fu had bought off Randall.
That was highly probable because such a maneuver was simple, requiring just a hint.
"It was Lin Fu who told you to do this, right? Are you secretly working for Lin Fu without Fu Xing knowing? Do you realize the consequences?" Now aware of the cause, Meng Keqin grew confident.
"I heard the Chief of Intelligence for the Eighth Fleet was punished by Fu Xing himself and sent to Helheim Prison Star for making a mistake. You better think clearly about your own position."
Randall was stupefied by Meng Keqin’s frenzied outburst.
This military goddess, idolized by countless people, was serious? With such a level of cunning and intelligence, how did she become the youngest female colonel?
"Since you’re not leaving, I’ll have someone escort you out."
Originally, he had wanted to save her some face, but that seemed unnecessary now.
Randall immediately had his men escort Meng Keqin away.
Only when personnel from the Special Action Team personally took her away did Meng Keqin realize.
All the halos she had before were merely borrowed from others; without Fu Xing’s support, she was nothing.
