"Stop talking, stop it," Theresa screamed, covering her ears.
But the Court Lady continued, "She’s also Elbert’s most sought-after team leader, universally recognized among new recruits as their leader. Based on that alone, she’s set to enter the military with an incredibly luxurious foundation after graduation."
"Shut up, you shut up!" Theresa tried to pounce and stop the Court Lady from speaking but was deftly dodged.
"She’s also a genius. Compared to her talents, your so-called once-in-five-hundred-years royal talent is simply a joke." A malicious smile appeared on the Court Lady’s face, clearly filled with hatred towards Theresa.
Truth be told, no Court Lady genuinely liked or respected Theresa.
Her hypocrisy may be unknown to the Empire’s citizens, but the Court Ladies and maids were all too aware, not to mention the despicably cruel ways she tormented people.
Every time she wanted something done, she never spoke openly, always preferring to secretly pressure the ladies into doing it, pretending to show her kindness and innocence.
And the consequences always fell on her subordinates.
A leader who can’t take responsibility will never gain the support of their subordinates.
When the tragic news of Lady Nora’s death spread, every Court Lady and maid in Danfeng Bailu Palace harbored resentment against Theresa.

"You dare insult me; you’re courting death. I’m a Princess, what right does a lowly commoner have to compare with me?" Theresa completely lost her mind, clawing and reaching to tear and grab, yet she was easily subdued by the Court Lady.
"Indeed, you are a Princess, but you lack a clear understanding of yourself. So many princesses in the Empire’s history have met with tragic fates, and you are just one of them."
"No, I’m not, stop, just shut up," Theresa, covering her ears, screamed hysterically, "I’m going to be Queen, you dare, you dare..."
The Court Lady coldly dropped the words, turned, and left, locking Theresa inside.
Only when Theresa was left alone in the room did she slump to the ground, her expression twisted and paranoid to a frightening degree.
She had to escape; otherwise, she would die.
How could she not know that she was merely a sacrificial pawn in her father’s plans against Lin Fu, to use her to get at Fu Xing, and by extension, sway the Seven Guardian Families’ allegiance. Her father intended for her to die.
To die by the hands of Lin Fu.
The death of a Court Lady wouldn’t affect Fu Xing, but killing a Princess, killing her—an heir once loved by the people and supported by the Cabinet Ministers—would indeed make a statement.
When that happened, the people would rage, and the Cabinet Ministers would be forced to step forward to save face.
