"This is your sister-in-law, Lan Tian, my wife." Mo Junhua pulled Lan Tian, who was next to him, and introduced her to Jiang Xiaoshan and the others.
Lan Tian looked at Mo Junhua with surprise. It was so straightforward to tell people she was his wife.
"Sister-in-law, hello." A few soldiers stood at attention, rested at ease, and saluted Lan Tian.
Lan Tian pursed her lips and smiled, "Hello everyone!"
Her gaze swept over their faces. She remembered these men; they always followed Mo Junhua and were his indispensable aides, his most loyal subordinates. In her previous life when she moved to the big courtyard, she saw them several times. Each time they came to her house in a hurry to report work to Mo Junhua and respectfully called her ’sister-in-law’ keeping some distance.
However, during those years she lived in the military camp, Lan Tian rarely went out, so she did not see them often either because they were training or she did not leave the house.
"They are all soldiers under my command. This one is Jiang Xiaoshan, next to him are Su Qing, Zhang Tian, Li Hong, Sun Qing, Sun Yan, and Ding Lei is not here today. I’ll introduce him to you some other day."

Before Mo Junhua’s introduction, Jiang Xiaoshan and his comrades dared not openly stare at Lan Tian, fearing they might offend the girl. Mo Junhua increased the force in his foot, stepping on Jiang Xiaoshan’s foot and fiercely twisting it. Jiang Xiaoshan grimaced and looked confusedly at Mo Junhua, "Commander, why did you step on me?"
"Your sister-in-law is not feeling well. I have to take her home to rest. You’re blocking the road; how can I drive through? Wait until your sister-in-law is feeling better, then you can come over and gather."
Mo Junhua swept a cold glance at Jiang Xiaoshan and his comrades. Where did their usual cleverness go? A bit lacking in tact today.
Hearing the commander say this, Jiang Xiaoshan and the others finally realized the battalion commander’s wife looked pale as if she had been seriously ill and appeared frail, as if a gust of wind might blow her over.
The guys quickly made way, awkwardly smiling at Lan Tian, "Sister-in-law, sorry, we didn’t notice you were feeling unwell."
Lan Tian smiled mildly, nodded at the men, turned around, and went back to the car. Mo Junhua glared at Jiang Xiaoshan and his comrades, then also returned to the car.
"They meant no harm; they were just curious to see me newly married, so they came to check. These lads just need a beating. I’ll sort them out tomorrow. You’ll understand how it is in the military after you’ve been here longer."
Lan Tian rolled her eyes at him, making it seem like she was petty. She had stayed in the military before; how could she not know what the military was like?
"Enough, let’s go. I want to sleep." Lan Tian impatiently waved her hand, urging him to move quickly. She leaned back in the seat, resting her eyes, then suddenly opened them, looking out the car window towards the forest, her Divine Sense sweeping across it, hooking her lips into a smile.
"What’s the matter?" Mo Junhua saw Lan Tian looking out the window, his gaze following hers, but saw nothing outside.
"Nothing." Lan Tian closed her eyes again, showing no desire to speak.
Mo Junhua touched her face and started the car, driving away.
As Lan Tian and Mo Junhua left, Jiang Xiaoshan, Su Qing, and their comrades’ gaze followed the car until it turned the corner and was out of sight; they then turned and walked towards the training field.
"The battalion commander’s wife is really beautiful, isn’t she?" Su Qing elbowed the person next to him, Li Hong, "She’s even prettier than Nurse Zhou in our clinic. The commander is so cold, how did he catch the sister-in-law’s eye? I’m good-looking too, even better looking than the commander. Why doesn’t any woman fancy me?"
"I’m not asking for much, not aiming for the commander’s level, getting someone like Nurse Zhou would be fine." Jiang Xiaoshan scratched his head, his face naive.
Su Qing and the others wanted to spit at his face; he really dared to say it. Their demands weren’t high either; who wouldn’t want someone like Nurse Zhou?
"Stop talking, guys. The commander’s family matters are none of your business; worry about yourselves instead. Today’s incident, you think the commander didn’t notice? Just wait and see, tomorrow, who knows how he’ll deal with us." Zhang Tian warned on the side, recalling Mo Junhua’s methods, and
their faces immediately turned sullen.
"It was all Ding Lei’s idea, telling us to come and block the way; he conveniently stayed back and watched. Why don’t we go pull his pants down?" Proposed Sun Yan wickedly, considering the idea, they thought it wasn’t bad and headed towards Ding Lei’s dormitory.
As Jiang Xiaoshan and his comrades left, Zhou Yuwei with a livid face emerged from the woods, glanced towards the direction Lan Tian and Mo Junhua had gone, turned back, and returned to her dormitory in the clinic. Once inside, she started a frenzied tirade throwing things around and screaming, finally collapsing on the bed crying.
She had heard what Jiang Xiaoshan and his comrades said; that woman was indeed the wife Mo Junhua married in the village. At that moment, her heart ached as if someone were scraping it alive. On the train, seeing Mo Junhua tender and caring towards that woman, her jealousy turned into madness, wishing she could stab her to death.
Zhou Yuwei also didn’t understand why she held so much animosity and resentment towards that woman. It was as if they were born archenemies; neither could live while the other survived.
Back then, their relationship wasn’t clear, and she could still deceive
herself, saying Lan Tian was Mo Junhua’s sister.
