The Cultivator's Reborn to 1970s Chapter 188

Su Qing was utterly confused and grumbled at Mo Junhua, "You dragged me away earlier without letting me explain, and now, sister-in-law has misunderstood us."

If it weren’t for the fact that he was his own brother and not his son, Jiang Xiaoshan really wanted to smack him dead for his lack of insight. Looking for something to distract him, he said, "Didn’t sister-in-law just say she needed some bedding? Go find some, preferably new ones that no one has used before."

Watching Jiang Xiaoshan’s actions, Zhou Yuwei huffed and walked away with a swaying hip.

"Ugly people sure love to cause trouble!" Su Qing muttered as he looked at her leaving figure. Jiang Xiaoshan frowned but did not disagree.

Once all three were gone, Lan Tian immediately stood up, glanced at the finger she had just poked Mo Junhua with, calmly wiped it on Mo Junhua’s hospital clothes, and then with a flip of her hand, a grey cloth from her Sleeve Universe fell into her hand.

With a flick of her wrist, the cloth, covered with row upon row of thin-as-hair silver needles, flew from the head to the foot of the bed like a stream of light. Having cured Mo Junhua and earned this merit, she could prepare for Foundation Establishment.

Divine Sense swept through Mo Junhua’s body. The years of training had not gone to waste, making him strong and well-built, his muscles tight like iron blocks, so tough they could barely be pressed down, hinting at his powerful explosive strength.

His body only had minor injuries with no hidden internal injuries, which made Lan Tian wonder, if he hadn’t suffered any fatal injuries, why couldn’t he wake up?

Could it be the dream demon?

That wasn’t impossible. Some people find reality too much to bear and prefer to live in their dreams rather than wake up. Lan Tian looked at Mo Junhua peculiarly, wondering what might have distressed him. Was it Zhou Yuwei?

To know if Mo Junhua was under the influence of a dream demon, she would have to enter his Sea of Consciousness and see for herself. A mortal’s Sea of Consciousness is very fragile, unable to withstand a cultivator’s Divine Sense without causing accidents. After setting up a Barrier in the room, Lan Tian sent a strand of her Divine Sense into the center of Mo Junhua’s forehead, only to be unexpectedly repulsed by his willpower the moment it touched his Sea of Consciousness.

"What the hell," Lan Tian widened her eyes, staring at him in shock.

So, you’re not letting me take a look, huh? Glancing at the rows of silver needles gleaming with a chilling light, her smile turned devilish, ready to unleash her storm upon him.

Before administering the needles, she cast an immobilization spell on Mo Junhua, twisted a silver needle, her eyes flashing coldly, and jabbed it into his finger. The intense pain that came from such a connection was too exquisite to even think about.

Lan Tian was right; Mo Junhua was indeed affected by a dream demon. The cloud of mist enveloping the dream finally dispersed, and he could clearly see everything that had happened in the dream.

As an observer, he watched the Mo Junhua in the dream fall into trap after trap, playing right into the enemy’s hands. By the time he could free himself from the predicament, the enemy had already grown too strong, and he had lost the best moment to strike back, leaving him no ability to retaliate.

He finally understood what had happened between him and Lan Tian; he had caused her to lose their child, and in the end, he was also the reason she was driven away. No wonder she had always disliked him.

Wait a minute, none of the things in the dream had happened, neither in the past nor in the future. He would rather be the one hurt, and he could never bring himself to harm her. So, how did she find out?

A sudden, bone-piercing pain shot through his fingertips, interrupting Mo Junhua’s thoughts. Why was his hand so painfully sore? The feeling of pain was too real, not at all like a dream.

Silver needles pierced into Mo Junhua’s fingers, a slight twitch seen as his brows furrowed, and his palm shivered with convulsions.

Feeling pain meant that this method was feasible; she took another silver needle in hand.

"Mo Junhua, this is for your own good, although the means are a bit crude and brutal, the effects are excellent. Besides, you’re a soldier, a soldier of steely bones and iron will, you should be able to endure this pain."

Mo Junhua’s brows were tightly knitted, fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, his honey-colored face turned pale green, his stiff hands and feet twitched slightly, and his eyeballs moved under his eyelids.

As if Lan Tian did not see any of it, she slowly pushed the silver needles in. Once all ten of his fingertips were filled with needles, she flicked the heads of the needles, and the swaying silver needles, under the orange light, exuded a chilling coldness that made one shiver.

Compared to the pain she suffered in her past life, this pain was nothing; it was just a bit of interest.

Mo Junhua was wearing the peach wood necklace she gave him; how could he have sustained such a serious injury? Unless he had given the necklace away, thinking of Zhou Yuwei during the day, a cold glint flashed in her eyes. She yanked open Mo Junhua’s collar, flicked her finger, and a small peach wood bullet fell into Lan Tian’s hand.

If Mo Junhua dared to give away her things randomly, Lan Tian would end him with a needle, even if she’d be struck by thunder and die, it would be more satisfying than to let him annoy her.

The spiritual energy in the peach wood bullet was about to dissipate. This trip to the frontline would likely be far more dangerous than the previous battle in the south. If not for the peach wood bullet protecting him, Mo Junhua would have probably died several times over on the battlefield.

Lan Tian re-applied an array to the bullet while organizing her memories.

In her past life, soon after Mo Junhua returned from the southern battlefield, Zhou Yuwei came to find him, and then she was sent away by Mo Junhua. What happened between those two, she did not know, and when Mo Junhua later brought her back to the troops, they lived in a house Mo Junhua had bought outside. A few years later, Taohua told her that Zhou Yuwei and Mo Junhua had gotten together.

Mo Junhua never went to the northern battlefield.

In this life, the difference from her past life was, Mo Junhua hadn’t gotten involved with Zhou Yuwei, Zhou Yuwei hadn’t married Chu Yang, but she was still entangled with Chu Yang, wanting to become Mo Junhua’s woman. The consequence of not wanting her was that Mo Junhua went north, and Zhou Yuwei followed him. Someone kept this news hidden from her, and in the end, still wanted Zhou Yuwei to be with Mo Junhua.

Lan Tian couldn’t understand why they were so determined to bring Zhou Yuwei to Mo Junhua’s side.

After thinking for a while and not finding the answer, Lan Tian stopped pondering. Anyway, she’d find out when the time came.

A moment later, Lan Tian pulled out the silver needles, took out a handkerchief, wiped the traces of blood on the needles, and stored them in the fabric, lifted the Barrier, opened the door, and saw Jiang Xiaoshan, who was standing guard at the door.

"Sister-in-law," Jiang Xiaoshan stood up and peeked into the room, "How come it’s so fast?"

"It’s not that fast. Your battalion commander’s condition is quite special; he needs a few more days of treatment. I’m tired and going to rest first. What about you guys?" Before opening the door, Lan Tian reversed her Spiritual Energy, looking pale and weary as if she had been overworked.

Seeing Lan Tian’s pale face, Jiang Xiaoshan was filled with shame, until now he had only cared about the battalion commander’s illness and had forgotten about Lan Tian’s health. "Sister-in-law, you should go rest, don’t worry about us. The ward next door has plenty of beds; we’ll sleep there. When Su Qing brings back the blankets, I’ll bring them into your room."
