The Cultivator's Reborn to 1970s Chapter 207

Chu Yang had just come back from outside, changing his clothes when he heard the knock on the door. Securing the top button of his shirt, he went to open it, sinking a bit at the sight of Zhou Yuwei waiting outside.

"Let us in first; I have some good news to tell you." She pulled Yanhua, who was hiding on the side, into the room.

His glance swept past Zhou Yuwei and rested for a few seconds on the unfamiliar woman. Chu Yang’s eyes flickered, and he casually closed the door.

"What good news?" Chu Yang forcefully suppressed his impatience. This woman treated his words like wind past her ears time after time. Had she not been somewhat useful now, he would have dealt with her immediately.

"See for yourself." Zhou Yuwei gestured with her chin towards Yanhua, "She’s from the same place as Lan Tian, and knows everything about him."

Chu Yang’s gaze landed on Yanhua, then shifted back to Zhou Yuwei, who gave a slight nod. Turning back to Yanhua, he lifted the corners of his mouth with a gentle and refined smile, "Hello, I’m Chu Yang, a doctor here."

Yanhua had never seen such a handsome man in all her life, feeling almost dizzy, and couldn’t help stealing glances at him. Handsome and with a distinguished air, wearing his white work clothes, he was like the Prince Charming on horseback from fairy tales. And importantly, Prince Charming had smiled at her!

"Hello, I’m Yanhua." Caught sneaking a look, Yanhua’s face heated up as she shyly lowered her head, staring at her toes.

"She has conditions," Zhou Yuwei glanced at Yanhua with a mocking twist to her lips, "five hundred yuan, and she wants us to find her a job as a nurse."

"A nurse job?" Having conditions was good; Chu Yang curled his lip. It seemed people from the countryside were so bold nowadays, straight away asking for a job. Whoever said country folk were simple, take a look; this one’s clever. It seemed he needed to change his perspective.

"The money isn’t a problem," Chu Yang went to his desk, opened the drawer, and pulled out five hundred-yuan notes from his wallet. He paused, then took out two more, a total of seven hundred yuan, and went over to hand it to Yanhua, "As long as what you’re telling us is the truth, this money is all yours. As for the job, nursing won’t work, it requires specialized knowledge, but I can find you another job."

Yanhua had been through a few men, and even if infatuated, that was just it. When it came to her own interests, she immediately sobered up, "No, I need to be a nurse. I won’t discuss any other jobs."

Chu Yang looked at Zhou Yuwei, implying she should persuade her, but Zhou Yuwei shook her head, "She and Chunhua have the same master."

What does that mean? Chu Yang frowned. What did this have to do with him?

The matter with Chunhua and Zhao Li was from a few years back. The army hadn’t deliberately kept it secret, so the Military District Hospital knew as well—but since Zhao Li wasn’t in a high position, no one paid attention. Yet Zhou Yuwei knew some details. Chu Yang didn’t understand why; after all, he wasn’t Zhao Li’s attending physician.

"Let me put it this way, two years ago, a patient came to the hospital, his name was Zhao Li—I don’t know if you remember him. His leg was so ulcerated it couldn’t be healed. His then attending physician declared it: either amputate the leg or wait for death. He disagreed with amputation and could only wait for death in the hospital. Later, Chunhua saved him."

Chu Yang narrowed his eyes; indeed there was such a matter. That girl was quite impressive. The top brass of the hospital had even tried to persuade her to stay, but she refused. He had wanted to find her too, to have a discussion. But then he got preoccupied with other things, and before he knew it, he had forgotten about her.

Both of them had the same Master. That is to say, this Yanhua also learned formidable medical skills; no wonder she insisted on finding a job as a nurse.

"Chunhua is Mo Junhua’s biological sister," Zhou Yuwei glanced at Chu Yang and dropped a bombshell. Fearing it wasn’t stimulating enough, she added, "Their Master is Lan Tian’s uncle."

"What did you say?" Chu Yang exclaimed, standing up in shock. He looked at Zhou Yuwei, then at Yanhua, pacing slowly back and forth in the quiet room, with only the sound of his footsteps, ’tap tap tap’, being heard.

Yanhua couldn’t understand why the two of them had such a big reaction upon hearing that she and Chunhua were taught medicine by Lan Tian’s uncle. Looking at the money in her hands, she squinted happily.

It really was much easier to make money in the big city. Seven hundred yuan was more than what she had saved working at the county hospital for a few years.

"Your Master is really Lan Tian’s uncle," Chu Yang vaguely touched upon the edge of the matter and walked up to Yanhua, "Does she know medical skills?"

Yanhua looked at him as if he were a fool. In the countryside, it’s customary to follow the family trade. Like the proverb says, ’Dragons beget dragons, phoenixes beget phoenixes, and a mouse’s son can dig holes.’ Uncle is a doctor, so it’s only natural that Lan Tian is also a doctor. Is there even a question about it?

"Of course, she knows medical skills, and her skills are extremely high. She started studying medicine with her uncle at the age of six. Before she could even recognize characters, she had to memorize the medicine recipe. Do you know how thick that recipe book is?" Yanhua gestured an inch thick with her fingers. "This thick. I’ve seen that medicine recipe too, and I couldn’t understand it. I thought at first that Uncle didn’t want to teach Lan Tian medicine, so he deliberately gave her a thick, incomprehensible book. But later, I learned that some people are just born to be doctors, and envy can’t bring that about."

"Lan Tian knows medical skills," Chu Yang grasped the key point and double-checked with Yanhua, "And her skills are very high."

"Of course. In our village, there was a woman who died during a difficult childbirth, a double loss of life. People had already taken their final breath; the family had even dug the grave, ready to bury her. Later, Uncle asked Lan Tian to go save her. Guess what?" Yanhua glanced at the two of them, casually counting the money in her hand, "She went into that thatched hut, and in half an hour, she came out and told the villagers that the woman was alive, and she gave birth to a big, healthy boy. Now the kid is five or six years old. That family regards Lan Tian like an immortal. Since that day, everyone in our village regards her as an immortal. There’s no ailment she can’t cure. This matter is kept tightly under wraps in the village because her uncle said that Lan Tian is still young. If she gets too famous, she won’t be able to handle the pressure due to her ’Eight Characters’ of fate. Moreover, except for our own villagers, she doesn’t see any other patients."

"I’m telling you, you’ve all been played by her. Mo Junhua’s illness was probably cured by her, and that Zhao Li too. I don’t know about Chunhua, she might be just slightly better than me and doesn’t have the capability to save someone on the verge of death."

"That’s impossible," Zhou Yuwei suddenly objected. She didn’t believe that Mo Junhua was saved by Lan Tian, "She’s so young, even if she’s been learning medicine from the womb, her skills can’t possibly be this impressive, even better than Elder Sun in the hospital. Even Sun Hao was at a loss with Mo Junhua’s illness."

Yanhua rolled her eyes at her, "Then let me ask you, before Lan Tian came, was Mo Junhua not always lying unconscious in bed?"

"There you have it. As soon as Lan Tian arrived, Mo Junhua woke up. Isn’t this obvious enough? It won’t take long for him to be able to get out of bed and walk."

Zhou Yuwei fell silent; this explanation indeed seemed plausible.
