"Y-You thought about that...?"
"You have a habit of eating little bits of food. It’s getting too much."
"So you want me to finish all this?"
"If you can."
I tried to ignore the warmth spreading on my chest about his genuine attention to my eating habits, but I couldn’t. It made me happy he was this observant.
I grabbed my cutlery and began eating, but I had no intention of spending it in silence. I’m sure Ares does too because he was yet to eat and just eyed me like a predator stalking his prey.
"You observe my eating habits, and you know everything about me. I can’t say the same for me about you."
I took a bite, licking my lips because the food here was heavenly, and none of it was going to waste. I used my finger to wipe the corner of my mouth and sucked on it, his blue eyes following every action.
"You know about me, babydoll."
"Do I?"
"We have been together for three years."
He was right.
In that timeframe, I got to understand him, his habits, his likes, dislikes, and everything that orbits around my devil boss. I was very dedicated to my work, and in a way, I knew him like the back of my hand. But...!
"What about the part that’s not the businessman I worked with for years? The Devil."
"It’s a private part of me."
"Am I not an exception to that?"
He tilted his head, and his eyes dropped to my nipples when my finger circled them.
"Considerable."
I rolled my eyes. "Fine, whatever floats your boat, King."
"Watch your tone."
"Or what? My ass suffers? It already has many, many times. I think it’ll be useless now. Pain can become passable."
"Who said anything about your ass?" He eyed me intently. "There are other ways to teach a bad girl."
I bit my bottom lip as I leaned back on the seat, trying to control myself before I do something impulsive, but it was a joke for me, knowing that was one of my top-tier traits.
"What else are you gonna do, honey?"
"I prefer not to tell, the heat of the moment is enough to."
"Like when...? Right now?"
"You’re testing me..."
I smirked. "Good."
Ares took his wine and sipped. "Little trouble, you’re forgetting something."
"What?"
"We’re on our honeymoon."
I struggled. "Which means we’re gonna have couples fun, right?"
A slow smirk curled on his lips, and my fingertips had sparks, but not in a good, good kinda way.
"You’re too far away... come here."
I gulped, pushing to my feet.
"Don’t walk."
His command made me freeze where I was, but then I squatted, going down all fours and crawled under the table to him.
The look of delight in Ares’ gaze pleased me, and I knew I had staggered him.
I pressed my hands into his thighs, my hand inching towards the prominent bulge.
"Does it hurt?"
He snatched my wrist before I could get too close, and the familiar coldness in his eyes was back; that softness vanished.
"Are you forgetting the rules?" His cold tone sliced through me, but I held my ground.
"We have broken a few rules, honey."
He tugged on my arm, forcing me to stand. My ass pressed into the edge of the table as he pinned me there.
"That’s where you’re mistaken."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Don’t..." He clenched his teeth. "...make me gag you until I feel like hearing you speak again."
I shivered. I could feel it, I have poked something, but it still doesn’t change the fact that it happened or that I’m eager for it again.
"I touched you, Ares..." I spoke softly in spite of his threats. "My lips touched you too... It’s kinda hard to forget something like that. Mistake or not? Anger or not, it did happen."
"Don’t count on it happening again." He peeled away from me and left.

"Aww! You guys left already?" Athena whined over the phone. "So how’s the honeymoon going?"
"..."
"Cat?"
I sighed, taking the phone to my other ear, as I dipped my legs into the pool.
"It’s awesome. Given the fact that I have always wanted a honeymoon but never pictured having one with a contract husband. So here we are, halfway away from Midnight like a simple walk to the next neighborhood."
"Now that tone of yours intrigues me. Tell me more."
"Is that why you called? To stick your nose here?"
"Where else am I gonna stick my nose in? We’re besties, we talk about stuff like this. Though I wish I were only yours, it’s not fair I have to share you."
I rolled my eyes. "How did you even get my number?"
"Deflecting..." she said in a sing-tone voice.
"It doesn’t matter. It’s just..." I rubbed my temple. "Remember how you told me that defying Ares will make it veer from his pattern."
"Oh my! What did Cat do...?"
Poked the beast.
She ticked her tongue, and even though I didn’t reply, it felt as if she knew everything already.
"Don’t worry about it." I ended the call and dropped my phone, taking a drink from my cocktail.
It’s so quiet here, typical for Ares. But I wasn’t the kind to stay in places like this that felt like I had a ghost for a roommate, because that was exactly what Ares was at this moment.
I didn’t feel him come to bed, and I’m yet to see him and—! Speak of the devil.
Ares came into sight, wearing just swim trunks, and the poor material was having trouble holding Ares Junior. He’s hard, hard, and it only seems to get worse when he sets his eyes on me.
I pursed my lip and looked away, but the sound of his feet against the wood coming closer told me where his destination was, so I got in the water to use it as my safe zone.
I heard a splash behind, and I swirled, Ares nowhere to be seen, just water still rippling from the force of a dive.
