I smiled, scrolling through more, and trust me, the negative ones really outdid the positive. I did my best not to dwell too long on the comments, because with every scroll, I was running hot and cold, with my mind spinning already.
The wedding photo and the gala pictures were plastered on all platforms, and thankfully, there were no leaks about my private life, where I’m from, or past relationships. Perfect.
I closed the internet and went to my contact list, clicked on Devil Boss, and began typing.
Me: So the plan for a wedding photo was to get our faces plastered all over the internet. Really, a leak? How original.
I eyed my message with a frown before I cleared it off. That doesn’t sound right, so I typed again.
Me: Saw the wedding photo, and I think that alone can convince the public. Some may think you actually can’t get enough of me, but we need to step up our game.

I wiped the message faster than I did the first, taking a deep breath. What am I doing? Why was I even trying to message him when he was the one who left without a word?
My fingers descended on the keyboard with speed.
Me: How could you leave for New York without telling me? Some husband you are!

She poured into the glass and left. I grabbed the wine glass, and it was halfway to my lips when I saw I had sent the message.

I put my phone down on the couch and covered my face, hands sinking beneath my glasses.
Hearing a ding from my phone, I almost jumped. It took a minute before I grabbed and unlocked it.

I leaned back on the couch and crossed my legs.

"After what happened, it’s understandable you don’t step out from the penthouse for days..."
"Huh..." I made a thoughtful expression before I shrugged, but in the process, the bag slipped out of my grip and dropped to the floor, our eyes following simultaneously.
The rose slipped off, sealed in a transparent plastic wrap, and began vibrating.
