Lu Yifeng lowered his head and seeing this made Xia Meilin nervous. Will he get mad at her? Will he shout at her?
When he turned to her, she saw the sadness in his eyes. "Ah, both of you are leaving me?" He sighed heavily. He knew that she needs to be in a better environment for the sake of their children that's why, he decided not to stop her. "It'll make me sad but, okay. If you want to live with your grandparents, I won't stop you."
Xia Meilin furrowed her brows, this was totally different from what she was expecting him to do.
She walked towards him and with one swift move, she slapped him hard on his cheek.
Lu Yifeng was surprised at this. She slapped him?
"You're... real... " She quickly shrank back in fear when she realized that he was not a hallucination. Her mind was not playing tricks with her! What should she do? She just slapped him! This time, it'll be the end of her! He'll snap out on her this time! "I'm... I'm sorry..."
Lu Yifeng turned to look at her with a rad hand mark on his cheek. He cupped his chin, "Another mood swing? The doctor did say that since you're pregnant, you'll experience such. I never expected it to be... like this."
She blinked a few times when she heard what Lu Yifeng said. Where's the scolding? Where's the deadly glares? Where's the torture?
When he stood up, she quickly took a step back. "Honey, do you want to eat a candied apple? It'll make you feel better."
"Huh?"
"Would you like some apple pie too? Although, the doctor did said that you shouldn't be eating too much sweets, I'll allow you just for today, okay? Make sure to drink a lot of water after eating." He held her by her waist and started leading her out of the room.
Xia Meilin was lost in thought with what was happening. Why was he like this?
When Lu Yifeng saw the confusion in her eyes, his lips slightly curled up. All he needs to do is to approach her differently. He will show her how much he changed and he'll make her love him again.
He pulled the chair for her and made her sit on it. He turned to a maid. "Get us some apple pie and candied apple."
Ever since Xia Meilin's pregnancy was known, the kitchen were full of apples, apple desserts and dishes were always prepared for her.
Lu Yifeng sat on the chair beside her. When the food was placed on the table, he took the candied apple and held it by the stick.
"Here."
Xia Meilin looked at the apple then to Lu Yifeng. She frowned, "I'm not a kid!" Why was he treating her like one?
He blinked a few times. He chuckled, "You're not, you're my wife."
"I'm not your wife!"
"We're married."
She pursed her lips. She wanted to erase that smile from his lips! "I hate you!"
"Yes, yes. I love you too, sweetheart. Now eat this, your mood will become better if you do."
Looking at the delicious looking candied apple, it made her drool. "Why are you like this?"
"I'm your husband, I have to take care of you." He straightly said. "If you won't eat this, then I'll have it."
She quickly grabbed the candied apple from him. She glared at him. "This is not over."
He watched her eat and stuff her cheeks like a squirrel.
Lu Yifeng knows that this was just the start. He knows that it will be hard to bring back the happy relationship they have but he was willing to be patient with her. He will make sure to shower her with his love even if she will push him away.
He will confess everything to her after she gives birth but for now, he needs to take care of her, he needs to avoid bringing anything negative to her for the sake of their unborn children.
When he saw that she was about to take another slice of apple pie after finishing one slice, he took the plate away from her.
She glared at him when he did that.
"Two slices per day, remember? You ate one this morning. Besides, I allowed you to have the candied apple this time." He took the glass of water and gave it to her. "Too much sugar intake is bad for our babies. Drink this."
Xia Meilin placed her hand on her tummy. She just remembered that she was actually pregnant. She was pregnant of his child again. The children in her tummy wasn't made because of a one night mistake, they were made because of love. Even if she doesn't like her situation now, the babies in her tummy were her children too and because of this, her maternal side kicked in. She needs to be careful for the twins.
She obediently drink the water and finished it. She stood up, "I want to sleep in a different room."
"You're not going to leave?"
"I'll leave next week." She said. Xia Meilin just actually want to see how real this side of him was. Even if she wanted to leave him at once and go to a far place, she was also curious in seeing this side of him. She feared and hate him, yet, her feelings were being influenced by her present self, because of this, it brought her into a confusion.
She will not easily forgive him just because he's like this. After what she has been through, her hate will not fade in an instant.
"Meilin."
She turned to look at him.
He reached out and held her hand as he stood up, he leaned and kissed her forehead. "I love you."
Xia Meilin felt warm but at the same time, it felt foreign for her, because of this, she pushed him away. "I would appreciate it if you give me space." She turned and headed to the guest room.
