Since Little Melon was being carried by Xia Meilin and Lu Yifeng was standing in front of them, he was able to reach out and give him a kiss.
Little Melon and Xia Meilin were seeing him off at that moment.
Xia Meilin and Lu Yifeng ended up staring at each other but like usual, Xia Meilin was the first to break the contact by looking away. Although, a faint blush was seen on her cheeks this time.
The little boy turned to his mother and smiled. "Momma, you give dada a kiss too."
She furrowed her brows when she looked at her son. "What?"
"Momma always says that kiss brings good luck, right?"
Whenever Xia Meilin has a performance to do, she would always ask Little Melon a kiss before going out to perform on stage. This was something common for both of them but this time, Little Melon was doing the same to his father.
"..." Xia Meilin was in a dilemma. If she knew that this was going to happen in the present, she wouldn't have told her son any of these in the past!
Lu Yifeng smirked. He couldn't help but feel proud of his son. Taking this as a chance, he held Xia Meilin's chin before he leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her lips.
Xia Meilin was so surprised with what he did. She was stunned on her ground and she felt as if her surroundings stopped moving when he kissed her. Her brain was trying to process that moment.
When he pulled away, seeing that she was still in a daze, Lu Yifeng patted Little Melon's head. "I got my kiss."
Little Melon nodded, "Momma's kisses are the best!"
"Heh, I know." His face softened. After that, he turned and entered his car.
This was where Xia Meilin snapped out of her trance. Her face instantly became red. "Y-You!"
The car's window rolled down and Lu Yifeng looked up at her. "I didn't break anything, I followed our son's request. If you don't like it, you can return the kiss later." After that, he turned to his driver while rolling up the window. "Let's go."
How dare him!
Xia Meilin wanted to at least give him a kick or a punch before he leaves but sadly, the car already left.
"Momma doesn't like Dada's kiss?" Little Melon turned to his mother with a sad look on his face.
Being looked that way by her son, Xia Meilin feel so helpless. Her nose twitched as she tried to distract him with something else. "Let's go back inside. Didn't mami Jing Yue tell you that she will bake cupcakes for you? Do you want to help her bake cupcakes?"
Hearing the word 'cupcake' made Little Melon's eyes sparkle in delight. "Okay! Mello will help mami!"
As they entered the kitchen, Xia Meilin put Little Melon down. Little Melon walked towards Jing Yue while she was preparing the ingredients.
"Mami, Mello wants to help." He said while looking up at her.
"Aww, Gua'er is so kind. I'll let you help me."
"Madam Lu, I will leave Xiao Gua with you today. I have to go and visit my friend today." Xia Meilin said while she was standing by the kitchen's entrance.
Jing Yue turned to her with a smile on her face. "Sweetheart, you don't have to address me that way. You can just call me 'mom'."
Mom? That word was something foreign to her. She has never addressed someone that way ever since her parents died. She felt an inexplicable feeling growing in her chest when Jing Yue said that.
Jing Yue was so different when she met her last night. Her cold and strict face was now full of gentleness and warmth.
Xia Meilin knows that Jing Yue wasn't really against her but she didn't accept her as well. But with those words, Xia Meilin can tell that Jing Yue was starting to accept her.
Was it because of Little Melon? Or was this all an act?
She smiled back at Jing Yue and decided not to think much of it for now. "If it's alright then, from now on, I will address you that way."
Every time Jing Yue smiled in delight, her eyes would narrow and form a curve, just like a crescent moon. "Good girl." Then she turned to Little Melon, "What flavor should we do?"
"Chocolates!" Little Melon jumped happily as he said it.
"Chocolate it is." Jing Yue pulled a chair so that Little Melon can stand on it before they started their baking class.
Meanwhile, Xia Meilin went to her room to change clothes and after she did, she messaged someone.
[I'm on the way to your place.]
After a few seconds, she got a reply.
[Finally! I'll give you the address of my new apartment. ;) ]
[You transferred?]
[Yeah. It's closer to my favorite cafe. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯]
Xia Meilin couldn't help but chuckle. She kept her phone and went out of her place.
On her way out, a middle-aged butler approached her. "Madam, are you heading out?"
Xia Meilin nodded, "Yes. I'll be back before dinner."
"Then I shall prepare the car for you." The butler said politely.
"Oh, no. I will just take a taxi outside." She smiled.
"Taxis are hard to get in this place, madam. It won't be easy for you to get one."
Xia Meilin sighed with what he said. "Fine. Prepare a car for me."
