Upon turning their heads, they saw Xia Sinian, holding a wine of glass.
Xia Meiren grinned upon seeing her brother. "I thought that you're never going to show up here, brother."
"I have to take care of some things on my way here. Besides, I went to greet Mr. Andrew first before I came here." He saw the little boy that his sister was carrying which made his eyes narrow but he decided to ignore him.
This didn't escape Feng Ning's eyes. Was Xia Sinian not good with kids? "I didn't know that Sinian-ge is going to come here. How's your work in China?"
"So far it's going well." Xia Sinian said as he turned to Feng Ning. "When will you be going back?"
"I plan on going back next month." Feng Ning smiled. "I will be taking over the family business in China once I get back."
"That's good, I look forward on working with you."
"Brother, how long will you stay here?" Xia Meiren asked as she placed Little Melon back to his seat.
"Until next week, will you be coming back with me?"
Xia Meiren nodded. "I will. I think that it's finally time to go home. Grandma and Grandpa keeps on asking me when I'll come back and I plan on giving them a surprise."
"I see, that's good." He smiled. "I was able to hear all pf your achievements in the the news. To be able to win the International Chopin Piano Competition, the Leeds Piano Competition, and the International Tchaikovsky Competition within four years, I am so proud of you."
Feng Ning nodded in agreement, "Especially when you're a female pianist. I always knew that you were good in playing the piano since we were young but I never expected that you'll be a genius in the instrument."
A light blush appeared on Xia Meiren's cheeks. "Both of you flatter me too much... of course I work hard and practice a lot to be able to be the person I am today."
"Momma is the best!" The quiet Little Melon finally spoke up which made the grown ups remember that he was actually there.
Xia Meiren couldn't help but smile. "Oh yeah, before I forget... Baby, this is my older brother, Xia Sinian."
Little Melon looked up at Xia Sinian, "Nice to meet you, uncle Sinian."
Xia Sinian gave him a nod before he turned to Xia Meiren. "So this is your son, Gua?"
"Yes. Isn't he adorable?" Xia Meiren said proudly. "Anyway, is it okay if you can watch him for a while? I will just go and use the restroom."
"Mm, go on."
Xia Meiren turned and patted Little Melon's head. "Be good, okay? Mommy will be back soon."
After that, Xia Meiren left the three boys.
Xia Sinian and Little Melon stared at each other for a while before Xia Sinian went and sat on a chair beside him. "Gua? What a funny name."
Little Melon furrowed his brows upon hearing his name, he pouted. "It's Mello!"
Xia Sinian raised a brow in amusement, "Oh? Is it now?"
Little Melon nodded a few times, "Mello's name is Xia Mello."
Feng Ning blinked a few times. "Is Gua his real name?"
Gua means melon, right? Feng Ning couldn't help but wonder who named the little boy after a fruit, after all, there are a lot of better names than that.
"Yes, his real name is Xia Gua, my sister named him this way." Xia Sinian said before he took a sip on his wine. He looked at Little Melon and smirked when he saw how sour Little Melon's face became. He can clearly see how the little boy didn't like his name.
Feng Ning sighed heavily. "I can't believe that Xiao Mei gave him this kind of name."
"I know. It must be because she doesn't love him that much since he is-
"Momma loves Mello a lot!" Mello exclaimed as tears started forming on the side of his eyes.
Xia Sinian leaned against his chair, "From what I remember, my sister didn't give you the name 'Mello', it's supposed to be 'Gua', right?"
Feng Ning saw how Little Melon was on the verge of crying. Since he was a child, despite how intelligent and behave Little Melon is, he was a very sensitive boy, just like how other children are. Feng Ning know this. "Sinian-ge, you shouldn't bully your nephew."
Xia Sinian scoffed. "My nephew? I never see him as one. If not for my sister, I would have put him into an orphanage."
Little Melon was truly hurt by what Xia Sinian said since he knows what the word 'orphanage' is. For him, it was a place where the children that wasn't loved by their parents were brought.
Because of Xia Sinian's hurtful words, Little Melon bursts out crying. "Momma loves Mello! She does! She does! Momma will never bring Mello to the orphanage!"
He jumped off his seat before he run away from them.
"Mello!" Feng Ning was about to follow Little Melon but he was stopped by Xia Sinian. "Leave him be. He's a problematic child. He will return once he calms down."
"He is just a small boy, Sinian-ge. You shouldn't hurt him like that whatever the reason is. Mello or Gua, he is a boy that Xiao Mei loves." Feng Ning sighed before he turned to run after Little Melon.
Xia Sinian sneered before he looked coldly at his glass of wine. That boy was a son of a bastard that raped his sister, why would he treat him nicely? Little Melon should be grateful that Xia Sinian allowed him to take the family name 'Xia'. If not for his sister, Xia Sinian was going to throw him off somewhere far.
But that boy's face... Little Melon looked like someone he knows. Who could it be?
