The Duke's Masked Wife 2: The Prince's Outcast Bride Chapter 243

After sending Cassius off so he could prepare his next tasks, Quinn remained in the shop in case any visitors were coming to pay off their debts.

To Quinn’s surprise, a carriage he knew all too well stopped in front of the shop, and the once-crowned prince exited.

Quinn didn’t make the slightest movement. He wasn’t going to hide from Tyrion or go out to give him a grand welcome.

After all, Tyrion wasn’t set to become the king anymore. Tyrion lost the privilege of having Quinn bow to him.

Quinn tapped his fingers on the table as he watched the prince be escorted in by guards.

"Welcome, Prince Tyrion," Quinn greeted politely. "To what do I owe the pleasure of a royal stand in my humble shop? This is quite the surprise."

Tyrion walked in and looked around.

Nothing appeared to be on sale.

"If you’re curious about what we sell, you have to tell us what you want, and I could get it for you. Perhaps a necklace for Lady Penelope? There is one I know of which has been blessed by a priest, so it would protect her from curses," said Quinn.

"I don’t believe in curses," Tyrion replied, turning down the offer.

"I believe in them," Quinn said, following Tyrion’s movement. "You shouldn’t dismiss the existence of curses, all because of what was said about your wife. As a royal, you should open your eyes and realise the other side of this world."

To Quinn, curses and misfortune exist. He had seen both of them before and experienced it.

"You are free to believe what you want, and I will do the same. I am curious what you would find for someone at the right price," Tyrion said, his gaze shifting to Quinn.

Quinn smiled. "I would get you anything, Prince Tyrion. As long as it wouldn’t get me in trouble with the town guards. I am a simple businessman trying to make a living in this town."

"We both know that isn’t true, but I have not come here to question you. Where is your brother?" Tyrion asked.

"I’m afraid you missed him. He was here, but he has left to take care of some business. I would bet that he has found some other young lady to chase. I know of his interest in your wife-"

"Do not apologise on his behalf," Tyrion stopped Quinn.

"Oh, you got it wrong. I am not one to apologise for what I haven’t done. I was only informing you that he has moved on to someone else. I gave him a good scolding about trying to court another man’s wife," said Quinn.

Tyrion stayed silent for a moment, trying to place the kind of man Quinn was. He was here for Cassius, but now Quinn had got his attention.

Quinn was as much of a mystery as Cassius, but he saved himself by not courting Penelope.

"You and your brother came to Lockwood at an unfortunate time. I hope it doesn’t ruin your experience with all the deaths," Tyrion said.

"For my brother, it is new. I lived in Lockwood when I was a boy, and I was around during the time of the last murders. Thank you for being so concerned, but I am used to this," Quinn replied.

Tyrion’s left brow raised due to curiosity. "You were in Lockwood during the time Simon took those young women? You don’t look your age."

"So I have been told. I’ve come to understand Lockwood long before you were born, Prince Tyrion. I have seen many things," Quinn said, walking around the table to go back to his chair.

"Then, you might be helpful in the search for the new killer. The town guards could always use the help," Tyrion said, carefully watching Quinn’s expression.

"I wish I could be of some help, but unfortunately, my father wouldn’t let me outside. I only heard of what occurred around the town if he spoke of it, or I eavesdropped when he had guests. How disappointing that I cannot aid you," Quinn said, placing his hand on his chest.

"How disappointing indeed," Tyrion agreed.

Tyrion smiled as it clicked what he was dealing with.

"Have I said something to amuse you, Prince Tyrion?" Quinn asked, curious about Tyrion’s smile.

"No, you haven’t. Since your brother isn’t here, there isn’t any reason for me to stay. Please inform him that I will come again," Tyrion said, turning around to leave.

"Going so soon? I wanted to do business with you. Forget about the blessed necklace, I could have found something else for you. The price would be low since a man who turned his back on the throne might not be able to afford too much," Quinn said, succeeding in getting Tyrion’s attention again.

Tyrion faced Quinn once more. "It’s not a matter of what I could afford, but me not wanting to do business with a man I don’t know well."

Quinn didn’t buy the excuse. "Everyone was a stranger to you at some point, but you gave them a chance. Just say you don’t trust me."

Tyrion didn’t feel the need to explain any further.

"Oh, one last thing before you go. The matter of my brother courting your wife is between you two. Don’t come digging into my life, or I will be forced to send more heads your way. I’m a quiet man, but I am not one you should provoke," Quinn warned Tyrion.

Quinn already sent one warning by returning the heads, and now another with Tyrion standing here. A third warning wouldn’t exist since Quinn would rather kill Tyrion to get him out of the way.

"Now that my brother has moved on, enjoy the company of your wife, make many little ones, and be thankful to no longer be in the," Quinn stopped as Tyrion proceeded to walk out the door.

Quinn found it to be rude since he was in the middle of giving Tyrion good advice that Tyrion should listen to.

"They never listen," Quinn said softly.

Quinn had been kind to give others a chance by offering them advice. They couldn’t get angry with him when they found themselves knocking on death’s door, all because they didn’t take his advice.

Quinn watched from inside as Tyrion led the way back to his carriage, and the guards followed him. He looked forward to the day when Tyrion would come again, since it meant he had the pleasure of being in the presence of a royal.

"Oh, she would be thrilled to hear of this," Quinn said, thinking of his mother.

When the day became fun , Quinn thought of changing his plans to include Penelope.
