Eliron could already feel the effect of the skill taking hold of his body, and shortly after, fire burst out of his blade, slowly curling around it.
’I don’t have much time...’
After taking on countless goblins and hob goblins, Eliron had already spent so much mana, meaning his stores were low.
But the time he had was more than enough.
The goblin king stepped forward, unintimidated by the livid energy pouring out of Eliron’s body.
And then with a battle cry, he lunged, his sinister aura bubbling around him as he reached Eliron, bringing his axe down with a terrifying force.
Eliron swung as well, his swing empowered by primal fire.
Bang!
There was the sound of a thunder clap, a shockwave cut through the area and a large crater was formed at their point of impact, decimating the floor.
The goblin king adjusted its position, those crimson eyes bloodshot with rage, as it delivered an array of blows.
Clang!
Eliron kicked the first one to the side, brought the second attack to the ground, then drove his foot right into the goblin king’s gut.
Whooosh!
The moment his foot made contact, a gust of fire exploded outwards, sending the goblin flying.
But he didn’t let it fly free.
In the blink of an eye, Eliron was upon the goblin king, his flaming saber slicing through the wind and at its throat.
BOOOM!
The king raised its axe just in time, but the blow created an explosion that rattled its skull, sending it slamming down to the floor.
He rushed to his feet, raising his sword arm, only for blood to splash out in front of him, his axe hand flying into the air.
"Arghh!!!"
The goblin king screamed, eyes wide with fear as it stared at the monster in front of him.
As the blood splashed on Eliron, the blazing cape consumed it, leaving his skin free of any stains.
The goblin king tried to use its feet instead, sending a deafening force at Eliron. But the attack met a strong aura of raging wind, sliding completely off Eliron’s body.
Swish!
Eliron’s saber flashed, slicing through thick bone and flesh like a knife through warm cheese.
Skreeeee!
With blood burning off his body, Eliron closed the distance between himself and the goblin king.
"This could have all been avoided, you know..."
There was no reason for Eliron to visit the goblin camp, they had far too much on their hands already...
But the girls just had to be captured the day they were to go on their expedition.
Eliron sighed, smoke spewing out of his nostrils.
"Blame your lust."
The goblin king turned around in a vain attempt to run, then Eliron slashed forward, his strike brutally precise.
Swish!
In an instant, multiple molten cuts appeared on the monster’s body, and then it erupted in a bright blue flame that consumed the entirety of its corpse.
The primordial cape flickered, finally dying out from Eliron’s low mana.
He stumbled but stood his ground, slowly using mana breathing to restore a little mana.
"That was one heck of a skill..." he mused, about to move away, when a weight suddenly slammed into him.
Yennefer had jumped atop his back, her arms wrapped around his neck.
"You did it!" She screamed with glee, laughing as she celebrated their victory.
"Excellent work as usual my lord! You had us worried for a second. But of course our lord would win!!"
Artie smiled and nodded as well, as they all celebrated the death of the king.
And then Eliron saw a screen flash before him.

Eliron smirked as he watched the screen. ’Now that is what I’m talking about!’
But just as he was reading through the details, he saw something glistening in the charred remains of the goblin king’s corpse.
With Yennefer still on his back for whatever reason, Eliron hurried over to the corpse and grabbed the shiny object.
It was like a crystal filled with a bright, turbulent glow that slowly slipped out of the casing.
"A spirit shard..."

It was a peaceful ride back to the camp. Yennefer had healed every single person and due to her absurdly large mana reserves, she still had some mana left after the ordeal.
The girls were still traumatised by the experience and Eliron expected them to be rather solemn, but it seemed Artie’s presence was more than enough to shake off that feeling.
They sat next to her, asking the wood elf ’princess’ a ton of questions about how the village had been and how the hunting expedition was going.
Although Artie answered them with a gentle smile on her face, Eliron could tell that there was something on her mind.
And the times their eyes would meet, Artie would avert her gaze. She had not spoken a single word to him either...
The reunion with the other members was a wholesome one, the only one who seemed greatly offended that they had returned alive was the goblin they had captured.
’He deliberately omitted the part about goblins guarding the river...’ Eliron mused as he walked by the little guy who shrieked back in fear.
’He’s probably wondering how we beat their king.’
Eliron paused and glanced at the goblin, a smirk on his lips as he crossed his finger over his throat in a threatening manner.
"Tu rey, muy débil."
(Your king, very weak.)
It was a lie of course, but it was enough to make the little guy’s heart run cold as it froze in place.
Eliron chuckled as he walked past it.
Normally, what the goblin did was worthy of death, but he was in too much of a good mood to be offended.
Plus he had seen enough dead goblins to last a century...
Soon night fell upon their little camp, the flickering fire creating a cocoon of warmth around them, the bubbling pot above the fire creating a loving aroma of meat and wild herbs.
While Artie supervised the cooking, Eliron sat by the edge of the camp, Yennefer napping next to him as he checked his spoils of war.
"System, let me see what I’ve got!"
