The Ex-Wife's Revenge: Rise of the Real Heiress. Chapter 171

"What is going on, Elara?" Beatrice was the first one to rush to Elara.

The woman raised her hand and grabbed Elara’s collar, anguish visible on her face.

"How could you do it? How could you be so inhumane as to kill a person? I know what he did was wrong on so many levels, and I never expected or wished for mercy for him, but did he really deserve to die?" Beatrice asked.

Carla stood there completely shocked about what was going on.

She might not have been in Elara’s favor ever, but she knew one thing for sure. That girl would kill anyone.

But now that she saw Elara being cornered like this, she wouldn’t lie that she didn’t feel good about it.

Elara looked straight into Beatrice’s eyes, which glinted with satisfaction and victory.

She swallowed hard, taking a deep breath.

"Let’s go." Elara raised her hands to the officers, who looked at her in shock.

Since their chief had already told them who this girl was when they got the tip from an informant, they hadn’t really wanted to put handcuffs on her wrists, especially given her actress identity, which would play badly on her side.

As long as she cooperated and came with them, they were alright.

The cops looked at each other before clearing their throats.

The female cop, Aria, walked forward and grabbed Elara’s elbows before leading her out of the set.

Once the cops left, Director Han looked at Producer Li with his lips pressed into a thin line.

"This was the best talent you were talking about? Since she entered our drama, something has been happening almost daily. At first, I thought it was good for publicity, but this just tops it all. I don’t care if she is the best singer; she is problematic," Director Han said.

Beatrice sat on the chair, covering her face with her hands as her shoulders shook to express her grief.

Some crew members who liked to lick her boots stood by her side, consoling her with comforting words, while Carla smiled when she heard the director’s words.

If Elara left, no one else could stop her from being the lead singer. The thought alone made her smile, and she returned to her seat, taking the glass of juice that she sipped on with pleasure.

Antonio, busy looking at some documents inside the car, furrowed his brow when he saw Elara being pushed into a cop car.

He thought the people had called in the cops’ car as a prop for their shoot, but he was so wrong.

This was no shooting. They were taking his boss, and his mind immediately started processing things. Without delay, he called George about what was going on before he started the car and began following the cop’s car, his heart drumming against his chest.

Inside the car, Elara looked at the cop who had found the evidence in the front seat with a sigh.

"So did you guys find out whose name this number was registered under?" Elara asked.

"Yes. Do you think we are fools? It was registered under Mr. Andrew’s name, and we know he was your ex-husband," the officer said.

Elara nodded.

Right. This could work that way, too.

She needed something more substantial to prove she didn’t have the number or ever use it.

Elara leaned back in the seat and closed her eyes, trying her best to think of a solution calmly.

The cops who sat on either side of her looked at each other with raised brows, a bit surprised at how calm this girl really was.

"If you think your family can get you out of this situation, you are wrong. The Turner family is doing everything to ensure this case doesn’t get buried," the female cop beside her said.

Elara didn’t open her eyes.

"I don’t expect my family to do anything. They are innocent and don’t know anything. Suppose they found out what that bastard wanted to do to me and how he tortured me. The Turner family’s name wouldn’t even exist in this country," Elara whispered before she took a deep breath and looked at the cop through the rearview mirror.

"I am just wondering to what extent you guys are willing to work hard or if I’ll have to do the work to find the evidence that I am innocent," Elara said.

"You are making it sound like we are deliberately cornering you. You can trust us on the investigation," the cop in the front seat said.

"Nah, I am not mistaken. Or why a girl who was violated would be brought to the police station so many times. Rather than assuring me safety from the family who is doing everything to shut my mouth and pin everything on me, you guys are targeting me," Elara said before she chuckled.

She shook her head and took a deep breath before leaning back and closing her eyes.

It wasn’t long before they reached the police station.

Elara sat in the interrogation room, waiting for the officer to finally come and interrogate her so she could be done with it and go home.

After what felt like an eternity, the door finally opened.

However, the person who entered the room wasn’t any officer.

It was Andrew Lloyd.

He looked at her with anger and disbelief on his face.

"Is this true, Elara? You killed Sean?" He asked.

Elara pursed her lips into a thin line, her gaze shifting to the camera. She was really tempted to say that yes, she killed him to infuriate the man more, but she knew this would be used against her, and thus, she was left with one choice, the only choice that she hated: trying to prove she wasn’t wrong.

After all, he never believed her.

"Would you believe me if I said I didn’t do it?" Elara asked.

"If you didn’t, then how come the evidence was found in your bag? Tell me the truth, Elara. If you have done it, then just admit it. Don’t worry about the consequences. I’ll do everything in my power to save you. That man did those bad things to you, and it can be turned into self-defense with just a few strings and a good lawyer. You can trust me," Andrew said.

Elara kept looking at the man, unsure whether to get angry or just laugh at his face.

The man patiently waited for her answer, but rather than reply to him, Elara smiled and looked away, infuriating him.

"Must you always act so ignorant and tough? I am here to help you! Can’t you see it?" Andrew slammed his fists on the table.

Elara didn’t flinch.

She just lazily looked at the man.

"You are asking me to trust the person who didn’t trust me," Elara commented.

Andrew huffed loudly, massaging his forehead.

"Can you keep personal matters aside for once? This is not about Beatrice or—" Andrew started to speak, but Elara interrupted him.

"It is not, Andrew. This is about Sean, the person you think I killed because of the evidence. But did you even see what the evidence was?" Elara asked, her sharp gaze pinning the man under guilt.

"They found a random phone in my handbag with the number that Sean had contacted the last time before dying. That SIM is under your name. When did you ever get me a SIM?" Elara scoffed, and Andrew swallowed hard.

He had been informed that Elara had been found guilty and that they had solid evidence against her. Thus, without checking what it was, he rushed inside to tell Elara he was with her in this, knowing what that man had tried to do.

And now that he thought about his words, he indeed didn’t sound too assuring.

"Elara, that wasn’t what I meant when I—" he tried to speak, but Elara shook her head and continued.

"We lived in the same house for three years. Did you see me use that sim? If you really wanted to help me, you should’ve started by trusting me or at least giving me the benefit of the doubt. You should leave," Elara said to the man, who opened his mouth to say something but then closed it when he saw how angry she looked.

With a sigh, he turned around and left the interrogation room to talk to the cops.

As soon as he left, Elara slumped in her seat, suddenly missing Daniel and his comfort, feeling lonely.
