Shen Meijia called her name a few times before Xiao Ying returned to her senses and followed her to the dorms.
On the way, Shen Meijia kept chattering about how hard it had been for her to get into University A. Basically, every time they met, she would talk about this. Xiao Ying did not feel annoyed and just felt that it was nice to have such a lively Shen Meijia around.
Shen Meijia scratched her head in embarrassment and said, “Xiao Ying, am I too annoying?”
Xiao Ying smiled and said, “How could you ever be annoying? Our Meijia has always been very likable.”
Shen Meijia yelled and pounced on Xiao Ying, shouting, “You’re the best! Even my father despises me for being talkative!”
Xiao Ying snorted. She had seen the father-daughter pair arguing before. It was always Shen Meijia reprimanding Shen Dazhuang as if he were a child, and he wouldn’t dare to make a sound.
Shen Meijia muttered, “Xiao Ying, you’re really getting more and more beautiful. And you’re so smart. How will you let the rest of us live?”
Xiao Ying walked Shen Meijia to the dorm and received everyone’s warm welcome. She took pictures with them and even signed some autographs.
Shen Meijia led Xiao Ying out of the dorm and said mysteriously, “Xiao Ying, your popularity is quite high.”
Xiao Ying flicked Shen Meijia’s head with her finger and told her to go back and pack her things. The two of them agreed to have lunch together tomorrow and then went their separate ways.
When she passed by the lecture halls, she saw a boy with a suitcase standing there, unmoving.
Xiao Ying took a step forward and asked, “Hey, are you lost?”
Zhou Yao looked at Xiao Ying, his throat moving subconsciously as he nodded.
Xiao Ying smiled gently and said, “Where are you going? I’ll take you there.”
Zhou Yao lowered his eyes and said, “The boys’ dormitory.”
Xiao Ying nodded and said, “You must be a freshman. Follow me. It’s indeed very easy to lose your way when you just arrived at University A. When I first arrived, I went to the wrong lecture hall multiple times.”
Worried that he would be embarrassed, Xiao Ying consoled him with her own embarrassing experiences.
Zhou Yao followed behind her and murmured, “Are you this kind to everyone?”
Xiao Ying did not hear him clearly. “What did you just say?” she asked.
Zhou Yao shook his head. “Nothing.”
They had already reached the dorm building. Xiao Ying stopped and pointed to it. “This is the boys’ dormitory. Go on up.”
When the boys downstairs saw Xiao Ying, they all shouted for their goddess.
Xiao Ying smiled. Their enthusiasm was a little overwhelming. Fortunately, everyone remained polite and did not walk up to disturb her. This was what Xiao Ying liked most about University A.
Zhou Yao pursed his lips and looked at Xiao Ying as he asked, “You…” Don’t you recognize me?
Looking into her eyes, Zhou Yao suddenly could not finish his sentence. Meeting her questioning gaze, Zhou Yao said, “Goodbye.”
Xiao Ying smiled and nodded before leaving.
Zhou Yao lowered his head in disappointment. If he had a pair of ears on his head, he would look even more like a big dog.
He consoled herself that he must have changed too much for her to not recognize him.
Xiao Ying did not live on campus. Instead, she rented an apartment outside the school.
Seeing there was nothing else to do, she left the school and returned to her temporary rental place.
The moment she entered, she saw Cheng Yang sitting on the couch.
Xiao Ying looked at him in surprise. She had not seen him for days. Even the amulet had run out of energy and was asleep.
“Brother, when did you come back?”
She put her backpack aside and sat down beside him.
As soon as she sat down, she heard a sizzling sound in her sea of consciousness.
After a while, she heard the amulet’s voice. “Master, begin replenishing energy.”
Cheng Yang had a strange expression as he looked at Xiao Ying and said, “I’m going overseas to investigate something.”
Xiao Ying didn’t think anything was wrong. It was common for Cheng Yang to go abroad to discuss business.
She just asked, “How long will you be gone for?”
Cheng Yang didn’t answer and continued, “I’m investigating You-Know-Who from the stock market.”
