While the butler was preparing a midnight snack, Samuel Chalmers went back to his room to change into more comfortable clothes.
Compared to the casual outfit he wore last time at dinner, it had a different feeling.
Scarlett Jennings couldn’t help but glance at him again.
Well, just one more look.
The two of them quietly finished eating two portions of dumplings face-to-face.
After clearing away the dishes, Scarlett Jennings remembered something else.
"You mentioned earlier that you have something for me? What is it?"
Samuel Chalmers noticed she still remembered and his dark eyes flickered slightly. He simply took her to the study, and from a drawer, he pulled out a black, mineral-like teardrop pendant.
Clearly, the outer casing was black, yet the inside seemed like transparent crystal, with something flowing vaguely within.
Scarlett couldn’t tell what material the stone was, but the pure spiritual energy emanating from it instantly attracted her.
"I obtained this pendant at an auction. It’s said to be a newly discovered type of mineral, extremely rare, and whoever owns this pendant also has the right to name the mineral."
Samuel placed the teardrop pendant directly into Scarlett’s palm.
"Now, you have the naming rights for it."
The moment the pendant touched her hand, Scarlett froze.
It wasn’t just because of the pendant’s significance, but because when it landed in her palm, the pure spiritual energy seemed to slowly seep into her skin, merging with her own spiritual power.
Even Scarlett was startled by the noticeable sensation inside her.
This pendant can actually replenish spiritual energy?
"Are you giving it to me just because it’s rare?"
Scarlett couldn’t help but probe, "Can you feel the spiritual energy from this pendant?"
Samuel replied without emotion, "Is it the same kind of energy that you mentioned before, emanating around me?"
With Scarlett’s limited ability to read Samuel’s expressions, she couldn’t tell if he was lying. She could only barely judge from his tone that perhaps, maybe, he genuinely didn’t understand these things.
Still, Scarlett told him about the spiritual energy she felt from the pendant and her suspicions about its effect.
Because if this pendant was really so special, its value would be immeasurable.
She needed to inform him of its value, and only then, with his awareness, could he decide whether or not to give it to her.
Though she often secretly absorbed golden light and spiritual energy from Samuel, it was always under circumstances where it wouldn’t harm him.
Scarlett considered this thoroughly, but Samuel seemed indifferent. After hearing about its "value," he simply said,
"The first time I saw this pendant, I felt it was special. Since it might help you replenish your spiritual power, I certainly haven’t made a mistake in giving you this gift."
Scarlett hadn’t expected him to care so little, and her heart fluttered slightly as she couldn’t help but ask,
"But why did you suddenly want to give me a gift?"
That Nine-tailed Brooch could barely be considered an enrollment gift, so what about this time?
Samuel’s deep, dark eyes looked at her intently and he said,
"Next month, I will be leaving Sea City for a while and may not make it back in time."
"Think of this as an early birthday gift for you."
With his reminder, Scarlett suddenly recalled that her birthday was indeed next month.
But how did Samuel know about it?
This doubt flashed through her mind but she quickly found an answer.
If someone like him wanted to know something, there was probably nothing he couldn’t find out.
Moreover, he had Donovan Jennings.
Feeling slightly warm inside, Scarlett held the pendant in her palm, and a new, subtle emotion surged in her heart.
Unlike the time he blocked the Fire Thunder for her and she one-sidedly decided she wanted to be responsible for him,

"My soul almost dissipated too."
Sophie revised her words but didn’t forget the main issue,
"You were right, there’s another powerful Evil Master behind Ava Zimmerman. I was discovered accidentally, and he sent a mass of Black Mist to attack me..."
Initially, when Sophie was discovered, she wasn’t too panicked.
She thought, after all, she was a Big Ghost of a hundred years, and having legitimately studied some Ghost Technique with Scarlett, if not to fight, at least escaping shouldn’t be a problem.
Who could have thought that the guy had a strange Black Mist around him?
She almost had to explain herself there.
"Alright, let me make you a Gathering Shadow Talisman for soul nourishment. I’ll deal with that Evil Master later."
"You have to avenge me," Sophie said.
"I will, I will, I will."
Scarlett agreed repeatedly, pulling out another Spirit Talisman to let her enter it and planning to take her home first.
However, Sophie wasn’t moving and was still looking at her pitifully,
"Considering the heavy injury I suffered for you, can I make another request?"
"What is it?" Scarlett asked.
She saw Sophie sneak a glance at Samuel Chalmers beside her, then looked at Scarlett eagerly,
"I want to stay here for soul nourishment~"
