The Favored Heiress Chapter 683

Shang Yu strode forward and encircled Li Qiao’s waist, his palm squeezing her cheek to force her to look at the dark red water bed, and whispered in her ear, "All the bedding is new. Go freshen up and come back to sleep."

A touch of surprise climbed onto Li Qiao’s eyebrows. Was it really just to sleep?

Seeing her skepticism, the man put his hand in his pocket, pressed down his handsome face playfully, "We’ll try it when we get home."

Li Qiao pushed him away with a half-smile and turned to the bathroom.

She understood Shang Yu’s intention; he simply didn’t want her to settle for the detention room, so he rented a hotel near the police station for her to rest.

It was a thoughtful gesture indeed.

After a good night’s sleep, all was well.

The next morning at six thirty, Li Qiao leisurely entered the detention room.

Her freedom to come and go within the police station was thanks to Mo Jue resetting all the surveillance footage.

Before Mo Jue arrived, Li Qiao had taken precautions.

But she only tampered with the detention room’s surveillance, lacking Mo Jue’s sweeping approach that covered the entire police area.

As ten o’clock in the morning neared, Li Qiao’s detention time was about to exceed twenty-four hours.

According to the norm, the station had to release her once the time limit passed.

Li Qiao seized this opportunity to hack into the information system again. In less than ten minutes, using her powerful network of connections, she identified several families with close ties to the Ming family.

All of them were prominent households of Parma and were currently in a semi-retired state.

Among them, the He surname family caught Li Qiao’s attention.

The former chief of Parma seemed to have the surname He.

Moreover, many members of the family held important official positions at the Parma Chieftain Court.

Right at this moment, voices from outside the detention room grew closer.

Li Qiao placed her phone down, crossed her legs, and leaned back against the wall, pretending to doze off.

Seconds later, the officer who had interrogated her yesterday called out, "Li Qiao, come out for a moment."

She opened her eyes and raised her eyebrows, "Is my detention time up?"

The officer frowned, "Your lawyer wants to see you."

In the interrogation room, Li Qiao entered to see a middle-aged man sitting across the inquiry table with a folder by his side, his eyes sharply scanning her.

Once Li Qiao was seated, he presented a business card and introduced himself, "Hello, I am the representative lawyer for this case, commissioned by my client to discuss compensation matters with you."

Li Qiao glanced at her watch indifferently; there were twenty minutes left until her detention period ended.

She curved her lips upwards and eyed the lawyer, "I believe I’ve said that I won’t compensate."

"Miss Li, there is no doubt about the damages caused by your forceful entry into the Cultural Garden. If you do not cooperate, then on behalf of my client, I will..."

Li Qiao leaned back in her chair, listening indifferently as he recited Parma legal clauses and various lawsuit procedures. About a minute in, as the lawyer’s talk grew dry and intense, her eyelids started to droop, showing increasingly less interest.

The lawyer called out to her with a solemn expression. Li Qiao lazily lifted her eyelids and glanced at him, asking in a languid voice, "Are you sure this is what your client wants?"

"Yes, if Miss Li has any objections, please make them known to me, and I will..."

Li Qiao sighed softly, standing up with her hands resting on the edge of the table, "Give him a message for me."

The lawyer frowned, "Please, go on."

Li Qiao leaned forward, looking down at the lawyer from above, her eyes and eyebrows full of arrogance, "Tell Patriarch Ming to come in person."

A glint of confusion flashed through the lawyer’s mind; he hadn’t mentioned the Ming family from the beginning, "You mean..."

But before the words could leave his lips, Li Qiao had turned and left the room.

She didn’t leave the police station but went back to the detention room on her own.
