The Female Cannon Fodder With Boundless Merits Chapter 79

Chapter 79: Chapter 79: The Poisonous Childhood Friend (Part 8) Chapter 79: Chapter 79: The Poisonous Childhood Friend (Part 8) “Of course, if someone came running to you asking you to cut out one of your organs and give it to someone else, how would you feel? You’d probably want to smash their head in.”

Ye Ruolan didn’t care about what Shi Shen would do next. She only knew that she had achieved her goal for the day, and after saying a few more gentle words, she excused herself to rest, persuading Shi Shen to leave.

Shi Shen sat alone, lost in thought, all night.

The next day, Su Li found more than ten missed calls on her phone, all from one person, and numerous text messages.

The content of the messages simply lamented their childhood lives and the joy of their current meeting.

The meaning inside was chaotic, like random thoughts scribbled down as they came to mind, somewhat inexplicably odd, leaving one feeling weird.

A mysterious light flashed in Su Li’s eyes as she tugged at her own face, almost smiling.

Was she finally ready to make a decision?

A few days later, Su Li headed out early in the morning when a disheveled figure suddenly appeared in front of her.

On closer inspection, Shi Shen was a mess—untidy hair, a scruffy beard, and his once-white shirt now wrinkled and damp all over.

As Su Li rolled down her car window, she was hit by a strong smell of tobacco from the approaching figure.

Immediately, Su Li covered her nose and mouth.

Seeing his ragged, worn appearance, Su Li hadn’t even spoken when a security guard nearby, holding an electric baton, appeared not far away.

“Miss Su, this man has been here since last night, waiting all night. Do you need me to drive him away?”

Su Li turned her head to look at Shi Shen, “You’ve been here all night? What does it mean?”

From the moment Su Li appeared, and even now, Shi Shen had his eyes fixed firmly on hers.

There was no sympathy, no surprise, no astonishment—nothing at all.

He didn’t see any emotion in Su Li’s eyes; when she looked over, her expression was flat and calm.

It was as if she were merely looking at the little flowers and grass beside the road.

Shi Shen swallowed nervously, suddenly anxious, “I, I, I have something very important to tell you.”

“What is it? Say it now. I’m in a hurry.”

At this moment, Shi Shen felt a surge of hatred for Su Li’s cold-heartedness.

He could sense her deep impatience in her gesture of looking at her watch.

“Could we find a place…”

As soon as he said this, Shi Shen felt as though he had handed over his own dignity for her to trample on, his face turning red and then pale.

Su Li and Shi Shen sat opposite each other in a nearby 24-hour convenience store.

Shi Shen was much more solemn, the awkwardness between them thickening.

After sitting down, Su Li seemed in less of a hurry. She had the convenience store staff heat up some breakfast in the microwave, eating slowly, waiting for the person opposite her to speak.

Seeing Shi Shen stare at her, his mouth opening and closing several times without saying a word,

Su Li frowned, swallowed the food in her mouth, and asked politely, “Would you like something to eat?”

After Shi Shen shook his head, Su Li directly said, “You said you had something important to tell me. What is it?”

“I can spare half an hour, and then I have to leave. There’s an important meeting at the office this morning.”

This time Shi Shen spoke up, his handsome brows deeply furrowed, “Don’t you even feel a bit inclined to ask what’s happened to me?”

Su Li raised her eyebrows in surprise, “Didn’t I ask? I just asked. You have something to tell me.”

In frustration, Shi Shen tousled his already messy hair, which now completely resembled a bird’s nest.

“You know that’s not what I meant.”

Su Li: “I don’t know. How could I know what you mean if you don’t tell me? We aren’t close enough to have a mind-reading connection.”

Su Li’s indifferent tone seemed to sting Shi Shen, and he suddenly raised his voice, “Don’t you have any feelings of concern for me at all?”

In his current state, even a friend with a casual relationship, upon seeing him, would probably have offered a few caring words, but Su Li remained utterly indifferent.
