He Tiantian nodded, "Okay, I guess you’re here to ask about that document."
"Actually, I’ve already completed the related calculations, and I found that the Soviet data is incorrect."
"...Forget it, I’ll discuss it with the chief engineer tomorrow."
He Tiantian said a few seemingly casual words and then went into her room to rest.
A gleam flashed in the receptionist’s eyes as he smiled and watched He Tiantian close her door, arranged for the two soldiers, and then hurried back to report.
"She said she’s finished all the calculations? And claims the Soviet data is wrong?!"
The chief engineer responsible for Mushroom Egg calculations was rather surprised upon hearing what the receptionist said.
"How is that possible? With such a vast amount of data, even using a computer, it would take us one or two months. Not to mention the many comrades supplementing with other methods of calculation!"
The chief engineer found the claim more and more absurd.
Wasn’t it said that the trend of exaggeration had been curbed? How could someone still be spouting such tall tales?
A human brain being faster and more accurate than a computer?
It’s simply unscientific.
Yet, the chief engineer soon thought of the document he had just received, which closely matched the data from the Soviet side.
Many parts could corroborate each other, except for that set of critical data.
Could it be that the Soviet data indeed had errors?
It seemed impossible.
It wasn’t that the chief engineer overvalued the authority of the Soviets; as students, without clear evidence, it was truly hard to refute their former teachers.
"Where’s Comrade He now?" he asked eagerly.
"She’s in the staff dormitory!" the receptionist quickly replied.
"Let’s go! Let’s take a look!" Without delay, the chief engineer put aside his work and headed straight for the dormitory.
In Capital City, they treated He Tiantian, the expert, quite well, allocating a single room to her and also clearing the neighboring room for the two soldiers.
He Tiantian walked around her room, then went to the desk, arranged the snacks, laid out the draft paper, and once again entered the absorbed "copying" mode.
Thus, when the chief engineer and the receptionist got no response from knocking and had to push the door open, they witnessed a scene that nearly caused their jaws to drop.
The slender girl sprawled over the desk, each hand holding a pen, furiously writing.
And able to write without interference?
Even for the experienced chief engineer, the scene was astonishing.
Hearing the noise, the two soldiers rushed over.
They didn’t recognize the elderly man with the receptionist, but by his demeanor and poise, he seemed like a knowledgeable elder.
Considering this was the Atomic Energy Research Institute, a place of very high-security clearance, irrelevant people or those with unclear backgrounds simply couldn’t gain entry.
The soldiers somewhat relaxed upon this realization.
Still, one kept an eye on the chief engineer, and another on He Tiantian.
"Don’t you guys find this, very magical?"
The receptionist couldn’t help but whisper to the soldiers, seeing their nonchalant demeanor.
Soldier A shook his head, "We’re used to it! All the way here, the boss worked ."
The chief engineer’s eyes burned with focus, and he approached. Soldier A stepped forward, ready to intercept.
The chief engineer knew better than to make any hasty moves, and right then, He Tiantian finished two sheets.
With a swipe of her hand, the papers fluttered to the floor.
Soldier B instinctively reached to pick them up, but the chief engineer beat him to it, bending over to pick up the one closest to himself.
The paper was covered with dense formulas and numbers.
The chief engineer’s brow twitched; some of these formulas looked familiar; they seemed to be the core equations for the Mushroom Egg.
He Tiantian continued to write, so the chief engineer simply dragged a chair over to sit by her side.
By then, the receptionist had introduced the chief engineer’s identity to the two soldiers.
Knowing this newcomer was a leader at the institute, the soldiers finally let down their guard and kept watch over He Tiantian, no longer treating the chief engineer as a potential intruder.
During He Tiantian’s fervent writing, the soldiers still looked for moments to feed her.
Seeing He Tiantian eat and write simultaneously and still spare a comment, "The pork pastry has gone a bit soft, get the Master in the cafeteria to warm it up this afternoon!"
"Right away, boss!" Soldier B quickly agreed, then picked up the practically full bag of pork pastries and swapped it out for a small packet of biscuits for He Tiantian.
