Yang Ruxin couldn’t be bothered with that sanctimonious old woman and calmly let Li Jiaya into the room.
“Aunt Hui, didn’t my dad tell you to stay in bed?” Li Jiaya frowned as she entered and saw Xun Hui sitting on the bed.
“You have too many wounds, and moving around too much could cause them to burst open.

But Uncle Li has already helped enough; how could we accept more from you?” Yang Ruxin shook her head.
“Please thank Auntie for me.”
“Then go thank her yourself.” Li Jiaya, without turning her head, continued to spread the ointment on Xun Hui’s back.
“I’m only responsible for bringing it, not for taking it back.”
Yang Ruxin couldn’t help but laugh.
This girl really had character.
“All done,” Li Jiaya finally said after almost using up an entire bottle of ointment on Xun Hui’s back, and then she stood up straight.

And just like that, even though Xun Hui felt restless, she had to continue resting in bed.
As for Old Man Yang, no one knew how he had talked to the folks from the other houses, but starting that afternoon, every house had someone follow him down to the fields.
Though Yang Baichuan and Yang Baifu worked in a lackluster way, with Old Man Yang calling the shots, it was better than no one working at all.
They managed to get things sorted out by the afternoon.
Then Old Man Yang borrowed an ox, and the whole family mobilized once again, spending a few more days to sow corn and beans.
Even Yang Ruyu, who was like a delicate lady, had to shuffle between the fields and the house, delivering water and meals.
Finally, the wounds on Xun Hui’s back had healed and scabbed over.
After two days, some of the scabs had begun to fall off, revealing new, pink flesh underneath.
Although her entire back was a crisscross of scars, she was, at least, healed.
But Yang Ruxin would not let Xun Hui and the two little ones work in the fields, no matter how much Yang Anshi jumped and cursed, nor would she budge even when Old Man Yang looked stern and scolded her, as if she hadn’t heard him at all.
