In a completely unrelated context to the battle Max was currently partaking in, several dozens of miles away, a crack in reality could be seen.
This crack was quite unnatural and dark and soon enough, a tear appeared and from it, two figures stepped through. A male and female. These two aren’t like normal humans, they looked different.
The male was dead pale and lean with his eyes bulged out as if at any given moment, they were going to pop out.
He had a weapon in hand which looked like a sword with two blades on either side of it with the handle being the center of the weapon.
He looked sick with boils all around his body but one thing remained, a certain smile on his face as he took in the surrounding he found himself in with an amused expression.
The female beside him was the complete opposite of the man. She was an epitome of beauty with a natural busty body with her chest area easily a G-cup and her ass was like two melons stack together that was how beautiful she was.
Her skin flawless and smooth with a few designs on her body as if it was a tattoo snaking around her arms.
Her eyes were a beautiful crimson and she interchanged in between a smile and a frown frequently. No visible weapon on her as her long, luscious pink hair flowed down to her waist freely.
"The Human world huh?" The female muttered as she scanned the deserted area they were in with a glint in her eyes.
"AHH! It feels nauseating around here." The male said with a frown on his face as he stared at the air with disdain.
"I can’t believe that the devil had to use half his powers to squeeze us through. He couldn’t afford to send weaklings anymore. He needs this job done as soon as possible hence we are here." The female sighed as she ran her hands through her hair with a smile on her face.
"I don’t want to disappoint our lord. So we need to perform this job perfectly with the tools given to us by him without anybody suspecting a thing." The male added with a grin on his face.
"Oh brother, do you think I look good today?" The female asked with a puppy looking eyes while staring at the male in front of her.
"Sure you do my beautiful sister. You look good every single day and hence you are perfect for this infiltration job we are going to do." The male said, patting the female on her head.
"Infiltration job? What do you mean by that?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.
"We have intel that there’s an association formed primarily against us. And I’m sure they would have a lot of information on him— the dragon vessel. So you are perfect for the infiltration job." The male said, patting her head with a grin on his face.
"Will you be with me?" The female asked with a wide grin on her face.
"Unfortunately, I have a different mission of mine. In order not to get caught early on by the powerful people of this world, I need to play my own key." The male said firmly, his tone leaving no room for doubt. The female simply sighed, her expression tightening with reluctant acceptance.
"It’s all for the victory of the demon race, right?" she asked, her voice low yet steady. The man nodded without hesitation.
"Exactly. For the demon race," the male replied coldly. "So let’s go and eliminate the dragon vessel that defeated the demon fiend sent to him. Kek! With our strength, he is nothing but toast."
Back at Aqualis Sanctum, deep inside a heavily fortified room within the association base, several monitors lined the metallic walls. Each screen flickered with data and streams of code, while faint hums filled the air.
Suddenly, alarms blared and several monitors flashed red, beeping in unison. For a few tense seconds, the entire room was drowned in the glow of danger. Then, just as suddenly, everything stopped. The red lights died down, the beeping ceased, and silence reclaimed the room.
Those who had been monitoring the feeds froze in confusion, their faces pale.
"What happened?" someone demanded, his voice sharp with unease.
"I don’t know. It was a demon alert, and we were just triangulating their position when suddenly, the alert disappeared. It just... died off, as if the demons vanished from existence. It’s shocking." Another man frowned deeply, his fingers still hovering over the controls.
"The alert disappeared?" another officer shouted, panic rising in his tone. "Make use of the world’s satellite and find them again!" His heart thumped violently in his chest, fear evident in his trembling voice.
"I did," the operator replied, shaking his head. "But there’s nothing. They are gone, as if someone killed them on the spot."
’What the hell is going on? A fake alert? No... that should be impossible. It’s not within reason for us to completely lose track of a demon that managed to breach into our world.
Unless... unless either someone killed it outright, or... or the demons have finally developed something capable of cloaking them from us. Shit! If that’s true, this is bad. Real bad.’
"We need to inform the S-rank hun..."
The voice came suddenly, smooth yet filled with overwhelming authority. Instantly, a suffocating wave of pressure surged through the room.
Ten people froze where they sat, their bodies stiffening as the air itself grew heavy. Gulps echoed in the silence as none of them dared to lift their heads.
’Th... this is the power of an S-rank,’ one of them thought, his forehead damp with cold sweat. ’But why is he here in person?’
"The demons have appeared again, huh? How convenient." The masculine voice carried a mocking edge, followed by a faint scoff. "For that to occur means a dragon has also appeared in this generation. Tch! When I was first told, I didn’t believe it. Hmm..."
No one dared to breathe too loudly. Since their heads remained bowed, none of them knew what he looked like. They only had his deep voice, sharp as steel, to go by.
"Perform your duties as normal," the man commanded, his tone brooking no argument. "I will take care of whatever demon has appeared. For now, let me go speak with the master."
The next moment, the immense pressure evaporated. The suffocating aura lifted like a heavy blanket torn away, allowing everyone to finally breathe freely again.
"Th... that was intense. Who was that?" one whispered shakily, still clutching his chest.
"Who else except for Hunter Drey? I’m sure it’s him. No one else has such an intense killing aura."
"He must really be fearsome."
"And crazy too," another added quickly. "He has a reputation for that, and trust me, he’s seen and done things that ordinary hunters wouldn’t even imagine surviving."
The room fell silent for a moment, the weight of fear thick in the air.
"I just hope what happened five hundred years ago doesn’t repeat itself," one of the men muttered with a loud gulp. "Otherwise... we are toast."
