Qiao Tian Chang was about to instruct Lei An to bring the man back to his cell and allow Qing Shuang to treat his jaw enough for him to speak, but Qing Shuang came running over at this moment with eyes full of fear and worry.
Once he heard something had happened to Ning Meng Yao, he couldn't be bothered with Qiao Mo. He hurriedly stood up and grabbed onto Qing Shuang's arms, "What happened to her?"
"Young Master, Missy got to know about it."
Qiao Tian Chang's heart skipped a beat. He had a bad feeling about it.
Pushing Qing Shuang aside, he sped towards his courtyard and even used his martial arts to save him time.
Qiao Tian Chang arrived at his courtyard, and heard Ning Meng Yao's questioning.
"Qing Shuang, what did you mean by me having a miscarriage, tell me clearly." Ning Meng Yao grabbed onto Qing Shaung's arms as she trembled without stop.
Today she was bored lying on bed, so she thought of getting up for a walk. But when she walked to the door, she heard Qing Shuang talking about the miscarriage with Grandmother Qin who just arrived.
So, she pushed open the door and stepped out to ask about what they meant, but Qing Shuang didn't tell her anything and ran off instead.
"Missy, I…I…" Qing Shuang didn't dare to look at Ning Meng Yao. She was frustrated deep down. Why did she say such a thing near the door to her room.
"Qing Shuang, tell me clearly what you mean that I had a miscarriage. Tell me!" Ning Meng Yao held onto Qing Shuang's arms tightly and asked wilfully without looking into her eyes.
Qiao Tian Chang saw the situation and he promptly went over to pull away Ning Meng Yao's hands, which were grabbing onto Qing Shuang's arms, before pulling her into his chest, "Yao Yao, everything is fine, everything is fine." He patted Ning Meng Yao's back lightly as he comforted her.
"Tian Chang, tell me. Are you hiding anything from me?" Ning Meng Yao broke free from his arms that were wrapped around her and lifted her head, questioning him strongly.
Qiao Tian Chang fell silent. Just like Qing Shuang, he was unwilling to tell her.
"Tian Chang, I beg you. Tell me, please? They said I've had a miscarriage, what do they mean? Will you please tell me?" Ning Meng Yao begged Qiao Tian Chang. She didn't like the feeling how everyone else was aware while she was the only one kept in the dark.
Qiao Tian Chang pulled her into his embrace once again. He hugged her tightly, not letting go no matter how hard she struggled.
"Yao Yao, if you promise me not to get agitated, I will tell you, alright?" Seeing her this hurt, he was heart ached.
"Ok, I promise you as long as you tell me." Ning Meng Yao leaned in his embrace, nodding her head profusely. As long as he would tell her.
Qiao Tian Chang signalled Qing Shuang and the rest to leave.
Qing Shuang glanced at Ning Meng Yao worriedly and left quietly.
After they left, Qiao Tian Chang picked her up by the waist and returned to their room. He lay her down on the bed before covering her with the blanket.
Ning Meng Yao was well-behaved and allowed him to do so. She looked up to him after that, "Tian Chang, you said you would tell me. You mustn't go back on your words."
"I know, I won't go back on my words." Qiao Tian Chang hugged her and he put his chin on her shoulder before putting his hand on her tummy, "There was a baby here before for almost a month."
Ning Meng Yao lowered her gaze to look at her tummy, she had a bad feeling about it, "Qing Shuang…they…they said I had a miscarriage, is that true? Is the baby gone?" Ning Meng Yao's voice trembled.
No wonder she felt pain in her tummy when she woke up. They told her it was because her tummy had hit the ground when she fell from the carriage. It was also no wonder they fed her different kinds of tonics as if she was in confinement.
That must've been why she always felt Qiao Tian Chang was behaving strangely. They actually kept something so big from her.
"Why didn't you tell me? What rights do you have to keep this from me?" Ning Meng Yao used her strength to break free from his embrace.
However, Qiao Tian Chang kept her in his embrace no matter what, "Yao Yao, calm down and listen to me."
"I'm not listening, I don't want to listen, how can you keep this from me?" Ning Meng Yao kept trying to break free, but she couldn't, so she bit at his arm.
