Jin Xiangdong was lying on the bed with his upper body naked and his shoulders wrapped in bandages. At the moment, he had his eyes closed as he was receiving an intravenous drip.
He was fortunate to be blessed with strong healing powers or else his life would be in danger now. This time, the gunshot wound was alarmingly dangerous because the bullet was lodged very close to his heart. If the bullet had not been removed in time, the consequences would have been too terrifying to think about.
The door was pushed open and someone was coming closer.
Jin Xiangdong opened his eyes and saw it was Jin Xianglan. He struggled to sit up. “Sister!”
“Don’t move!” Jin Xianglan stopped him at once.
Jin Xiangdong lay back down and stared at Jin Xianglan’s face. She was checking the data and readings displayed on the equipment off to the side. Then, she said to Jin Xiangdong, “Everything is fine. You will be okay after you finish this intravenous drip.”
Jin Xiangdong nodded. Jin Xianglan’s eyes were filled with apologetic expressions. “Xiangdong, I am sorry! I didn’t notice the type of the gun at that moment!”
“Sister, don’t be so hard on yourself! I am glad that I was the one injured!” Jin Xiangdong comforted her.
Jin Xiangdong’s words made her eyes flicker. “Do you honestly love her that much?” She asked.
“Yes!” Jin Xiangdong did not hesitate for one moment.
Jin Xianglan looked at Jin Xiangdong’s handsome face. “I am sorry. I was losing my marbles there.”
Jin Xiangdong was gazing at her as well. “Sister, can you give me an explanation, what did Lu Jia’er mean back there?”
Jin Xianglan looked away. “It is only temporary that Lu Jia’er cannot accept her identity! I believe she will figure it out!”
“That is not what I am talking about!” Jin Xiangdong interrupted her. “I am talking about the test subject she referred to!”
It seemed that Jin Xianglan was unwilling to discuss this with Jin Xiangdong. “I told you. She just cannot accept it for the time being. Besides, she is far from being just a test subject. She is an independent individual!”
“Sister, you know very well what I am referring to. Stop running away and answer the actual question!” Jin Xiangdong pressed her.
“What are you referring to?” Jin Xianglan was still dodging about.
Since this was how Jin Xianglan wanted to play it, Jin Xiangdong had to ask the question directly. “Am I also a test subject?”
A smile was squeezed onto Jin Xianglan’s face. “Your body is different from others. It is an experiment in that sense.”
Jin Xiangdong concluded. “Sister, you are acting too abnormally.”
Jin Xianglan smiled. “That is because I am still in shock from shooting you.”
Jin Xiangdong checked her up and down. He recalled when that shooting happened and how clear the panic was in her eyes. Jin Xiangdong understood that she must have been frightened back then. His sister was important to him. Since he was a kid, when their parents were busy with scientific research, it was his sister that kept him company and took care of him. They shared a close bond. Yet, he could tell clearly that she was hiding something from him.
“Sister, I will find out the truth soon, even if you don’t tell me!” Jin Xiangdong would not give up.
Jin Xianglan threw a glance at him with mixed feelings. She wished to speak but stopped on a second thought. “Xiangdong, don’t overthink things. I will explain it to you another time!” Those were the words that came out of her mouth.
“Sister, you are well aware that since I was young, whenever I had a doubt, I would want to get to the answer within the shortest time possible.” Jin Xiangdong did not give up just because she conjured up an excuse.
“Xiangdong, can’t you just be patient?” Jin Xianglan asked.
“No!” Jin Xiangdong shook his head.
Jin Xianglan felt her heart softened when she saw how determined Jin Xiangdong was because her own, real brother had the exact same temper.
