However, no matter how angry he was and no matter how much he wanted Loki dead, he didn’t tell the four slaves to go and kill Loki. He only coerced them and dropped hints like saying, "I want him dead now, and I want him dead at all costs."
Then he would glare at them and ask, "Do you understand me? "
If they didn’t understand him, he would say, "I will give you one day to solve my problem. Either you do that, or all of you will die. If you can’t offer me timely solutions when I need them, then you’re useless to me, and there is no need to keep you around."
Never once did he explicitly say that he wanted them to kill Loki for him. This was in preparation to wash his hands of the situation when Loki dies, and they are arrested by Muni for breaking the rules.
Without being explicit, he can always claim that he never sent them to kill Loki. He can safely claim that they did so of their own initiative.
As for his promise of his father saving them and rewarding them for killing Loki, that’s just a lie. There is no reason for his father to waste the resources that he can use to acquire a rank 2 slave to save a rank 1 slave, so once these four kill Loki, they are doomed.
The four of them suspected this, but they had no choice but to go and kill Loki. After all, Slav was vague about his intentions, but he was very clear about the consequences of not "providing a timely solution to his problem in one day."
So, as usual, they drew lots to determine who would go and kill Loki after Slav left. But this time, two of them were picked to kill Loki. This was because they had found out that Loki might have strengthened his body to rank 2.
The first enemy was the forger who fought Loki in the last two timelines. The second one is an insect slaver of the Enslavement Pathway.
The two unlucky fellows went to kill Loki. The forger took up the forward position while the insect slaver stood far behind and backed him up with poisonous wasps with sharp and long stingers.
Theirkarrangement was solid. The forger will hold Loki down while the wasps will sting him to death. But just as they kicked down the door, Loki rushed out from the window, shouting at the top of his lungs.
He raised his voice and shouted, "Help. Help me. Slav and his slaves are trying to kill me. Help me, anyone."
He shouted as if his life depended on it, and he ran with all of his strength without holding back. His behavior stunned the two death warriors, who thought that he was exaggerating.
Loki was able to rush over to his neighbors. His shout drew them out, so many people came out of their houses and saw the two lackeys holding weapons in front of Loki’s house.
Someone said, "I knew that Slav would try to kill him, but I didn’t expect Slav to act so quickly."
Someone else chuckled and said, "That’s a young master for you. They don’t waste time."
Slav, who was hiding nearby, quickly appeared and shouted at the two, "What are you two doing here?"
The insect slaver was a quick thinker, so he replied with feigned confusion on his face as he said, "We came to give him a gift so that he can prepare better for the competition."
Slav asked as if he was angry, "Then why is he shouting that you are trying to kill him?"
The insect slaver shook his head with an expression of confusion as he said, "We don’t know. We didn’t even get to meet him before he began screaming bloody murder."
Slav heard this and shook his head and said, "There must be a misunderstanding here. Besides, killing is against the rules."
The people listening to their conversation looked at each other and rolled their eyes. Clearly, no one believed Slav.
Someone whispered to his neighbor, "Yeah, right. He bragged earlier today that he has many people who will kill Loki for him, regardless of the cost. Now he is saying that there must be a misunderstanding about his lackeys coming to Loki’s door with weapons. What else could they be here for but to kill Loki? Does he think we are stupid?"
The other person snickered and said, "What I find funny about all of these is that he said that it is against the rules to kill, as if the rules have ever stopped him from killing someone."
They didn’t believe a word out of Slav’s mouth, but they didn’t dare voice their thoughts about the matter. Loki has managed to survive Slav’s attempts to kill him all of these months, but they don’t have his luck, so they kept their words to the level of whispers.
But no matter how they kept silent about the matter, the look on their face and their demeanor showed that none of them believed Slav. This made Slav grit his teeth in anger.
His temper could only get worse because Loki was still running about, shouting for people to save him. Slav wanted to ask him to shut up, but he didn’t want people to think that he was trying to silence the witness and victim. So he could only bear with the incessant shouting.
All the shouting even attracted Muni. Muni rushed over and asked, "What’s going on?"
Loki quickly went up to him and shed tears as he complained about how he nearly lost his life. Just like the previous timeline, Muni believed Loki completely. But this time around, Slav couldn’t accuse Loki of being the one who committed murder.
No matter what Slav said, there was proof that his lackeys were the aggressors since they had kicked Loki’s door down. No amount of lying was going to change that fact.
