It’s hard to imagine that Liu Yushui would ever want to see her.
"Did she mention the reason she wants to see me?" she asked Lin Chushui.
At her words, Lin Chushui shook his head.
"She didn’t say, but from what I gathered, it seems to be related to the Zhou family." he said.
There was no necessary for him to deliver the message that Liu Yushui wanted to meet Sister Sangsang, but he had heard that Zhou Liang was about to get married, to the daughter of the county magistrate nonetheless. Sister Sangsang must be worried if there would be any issue from Brother Changfeng’s end.
Just as Liu Yushui wanted to meet her at this time, he thought, perhaps a meeting might be worthwhile.
Anyway, even if Liu Yushui said something she shouldn’t, the most Sister Sangsang would do is to listen, there wouldn’t be any loss. But if it was really related to Cousin Changfeng, it would be his fault if he didn’t tell Sister Sangsang.
"Related to the Zhou family?"
Lin Caisang frowned and took a deep breath.
Having been deserted, wouldn’t Liu Yushui bear hatred right to the bone against Zhou Liang and the Zhou family? Was she now planning to use her to cause trouble for the Zhou family?
"Sister Sangsang, are you going to meet her?" Lin Chushui asked when she stayed silent.
"You go home, I’ll check it out."
No matter what Liu Yushui’s motive was, there’s no harm in hearing what she had to say.
Liu Yushui aimed to use her against the Zhou family, while she... Zhou Liang was the one she wanted to target as well. Previously, she simply thought it was too lenient to kill off Zhou Liang’s family.
"Should I accompany you there?" Lin Chushui proposed, feeling uneasy.
It’s not acceptable to let Sister Sangsang go to Liu Yushui’s place alone. If Grandpa and Grandma were to find out, wouldn’t they flay a layer of skin off him?
Lin Caisang waved dismissively at him.
"What, are you worried that Liu Yushui, a frail woman, could do something to me?"
If Lin Chushui came along, Liu Yushui may not feel comfortable enough to say certain things. She probably wanted to expose all the dirty laundry of the Zhou family, right?
After pushing open the door and walking in, the interior was clean and orderly. It was unclear whether Lin Chushui or Liu Yushui had tidied it up.
Hearing the commotion in the courtyard, Liu Yushui walked out from the kitchen. On seeing Lin Caisang, she was first stunned, but then quickly regained her composure and spoke to her.
"Wait a moment, I’ll be right there."
With that, she finished stir-frying the only dish in her kitchen, extinguished the stove, and came out.
The two sat in the hall, which was empty save for a table and two stools. Atop the table was the dish Liu Yushui had brought from the kitchen.
"Is this all you eat?"
Looking at the bowl of salted vegetables and cornbread, Lin Caisang asked her.
After all, Liu Yushui was a nursing mother. How could this provide enough nutrition?
"This is enough for a meal." Liu Yushui replied with an embarrassed smile.
She too wanted a good meal, but this was the situation at home. She had prematurely given birth and her breast milk was pitifully low. They lacked food at home for the two children.
So she had asked Lin Chushui to buy some rice from the village, and made gruel for the children.
As for herself, she naturally ate the food that was readily available at home. The salted vegetables had been pickled by her mother, and the cornmeal was what her father had disdainfully left behind when he ran away.
"But... you have silver, don’t you?" Lin Caisang asked.
