He remembered encountering a dark figure in the forest. He couldn’t make out what prey it was, only that it was moving at an incredible speed. He chased after it until he felt a heaviness in his head, then lost consciousness.
Maybe he had been attacked.
"You reckless child, wandering off aimlessly, you never put anyone’s mind at ease. The moment your elder brother loses sight of you, you go off causing trouble. Look at you now, nearly sacrificing your own life. Let’s see if you dare to act carelessly in the future!"
Upon seeing him awake, the Emperor couldn’t help but start nagging.
"Exactly, Second Brother, there’s danger lurking everywhere in the hunting ground. Why didn’t you bring more guards with you?" the Eldest Prince also chimed in.
"If you hadn’t been so lucky this time, running into Miss Lin who saved you, you would have died amongst the jumble of rocks. Look at the state of you, if you returned to the palace, it’d make our mother faint from distress."
Thinking of their mother back at the palace, injuries on the Second Prince’s body seemed to fade into unimportance, his head began to throb instead.
His eldest brother was right, the consequence of letting their mother learn of his condition would be unthinkable. She would definitely confine him within the confines of the palace out of worry.
"Alright, he’s just woken up. Stop nagging him."
The Elder Princess spoke up for him after looking at the father and son duo, then at her nephew lying in bed.
"Feng’er, didn’t Miss Lin say that he should drink the medicine as soon as he woke up? Hurry up and have it brought here."
"Um, right, I’ll go get it now."
The Eldest Prince nodded, immediately turned around and left to fetch the medicine.
Outside the tent, Lin Caisang’s voice was heard.
"Miss Lin, you’re here? My little brother just woke up." The Eldest Prince’s voice could be heard as well.
"Good, I’ll go in to check on him."
The moment her voice fell, the Emperor and the Elder Princess saw Lin Caisang enter the tent, her eyes looking like someone who had been up all night.
The Elder Princess wanted to show her concern upon seeing her worn out look, but she cut her off.
"Does he have a fever?"
Lin Caisang walked over to the bedside of the Second Prince, reaching out to feel his forehead.
"Well, it seems the Second Prince does take good care of his health. Despite sustaining such heavy injuries, he doesn’t even have a fever." While heaving a sigh of relief, she looked back at the Emperor and the Elder Princess.
"Your Majesty, have you invited any other doctors to check the Second Prince’s pulse?"
The Emperor shook his head.
Even though he harbored doubts about Lin Caisang, he had to admit that he admired her medical skills.
At this moment, with his son in such a state, he could not trust any doctor other than Lin Caisang. Those old doctors bragged so much on normal days, but when it came to real situations, they only knew how to admit their incompetence!
Compared to them, Lin Caisang was different. She could save lives effortlessly.
It had been over three hours since she went back and forth from her home, right?
This Emperor hadn’t even thought to invite a doctor here. Was this a show of trust in her, or had he forgotten it because he was too worried about his son?
"Your Majesty, you should invite a doctor. The Second Prince’s injuries do require constant monitoring by a doctor. I can’t stay here all the time. I’ll need to brief the doctor about his condition."
The Emperor nodded, stood up, and left the tent to give the command.
