”Look at you being all proud.” Fu Hua said with a smile.
Jia Li replied after drinking a mouthful of the juice, “I can’t help it.”
Jasmine so how happy her mother was with drinking juice, and thought it must be delicious, hence, she stretched out her hand to ask for a taste.
”Mummy, give me.”
Jia Li hit her hand away gently before saying, “Don’t beg me, this is not for adults, and you might like the taste.”
”Why?” Jasmine asked with pouted lips as she was about to cry.
”Don’t you dare cry, or I will spank your butts.” Jia Li threatened and went to sit down with her remaining glass of juice.
Fu Hua didn’t like Jia Li’s method of scolding, especially when it made their little girl shed tears, just like now.
”Why are you scolding her? You should have talked to her nicely.” He asked as he brought the little girl into his arms to comfort her.
”I can’t tolerate her all the time. I know when to be gentle with her, and also strict with her. We can’t pamper her all the time.” Jia Li said.
Jasmine shed tears in her father’s arms after being scolded by her mother. With her nonstop sobbing, Fu Hua didn’t have the time to continue arguing with Jia Li, instead, he gave his little girl, all his attention.
At last, Jia Li who seemed unmoved caved in. “Jasmine, this drink is not meant for children, and you might like the taste, here, try it.” She said as she brought the glass towards Jasmine’s lips.
Immediately Jasmine caught a whiff of the scent, her nose scrunched up immediately as she turned her face away.
Jia Li restricted her arm and said with a smile, “See, even you don’t like the scent, so how can you be able to stomach that.”
”What is wrong with the fruit juice?” Fu Hua asked with a slight frown.
”Mum added a little cinnamon, ginger, and a vegetable to the fruits, so the taste is not funny, but it is indeed very healthy.” Jia Li replied immediately.
Now, Fu Hua came to understand the reason Jasmine turned her face away and stopped crying. Anyone who saw Jia Li drinking the juice earlier would be deceived by her.
”Doesn’t that taste bitter in your mouth?” Fu Hua asked with a disgusted look.
”There is indeed a slightly bitter taste, but there is also a sweet, and a spicy hot one.” Jia Li replied.
The fruits made try drink sweet, the vegetable made it slightly bitter, and the ginger made the drink, hot and a little spicy.
Fu Hua’s facial expression said that he didn’t care about the rest of the taste. He was already disgusted with the drink as he wondered what on earth would make him take a drink like that.
Soon, it was time for breakfast, and the entire family gathered in the dining room.
It looks like breakfast was going smoothly today, as no one has dared to make any trouble yet. Fu Juan was eating quietly when she thought of something, and then she fixed her gaze on Fu Hee to ask, “Hee, is my daughter’s bedroom not ready yet?”
Fu Hee made sure to swallow the food in her mouth before replying slowly, “It will be ready before lunch, and I will let you know when everything is ready.”
Fu Juan wanted to ask why she was so dull with getting a bedroom ready for her daughter, but she didn’t dare to cause another commotion.
Grandfather Fu glanced at his children and said to them, “All of you should come to my study in 2 hours.”
There was no need to ask for the reason because it was very obvious that Fu Juan was the case of study. Grandfather Fu has finally cleared up his schedule in other to understand his daughter and works sense into her.
There was an uncomfortable feeling slowly rising in Fu Juan and Lanying’s hearts, and no matter how they tried, that feeling wouldn’t go away. The only solution was for them to wait patiently until the meeting was over before their nerves can relax again.
A meeting starting in the next two hours means that there should be tea and snacks ready, so after breakfast, Fu Hee went to instruct the kitchen on what type of snacks and tea to prepare.
When they got back to their bedroom, Lanying talked about how happy she was being at the Fu house, and how ambient the dining room was.
Fu Juan scoffed and said, “Does the breakfast table today seem like it had the best ambiance a family should have?”
Lanying smiled and shook her head before explaining, “No it’s not, I’m only happy that nobody made trouble for you otherwise, I will feel very bad.”
”This house is becoming so unwelcoming.” Fu Juan said through gritted teeth. Her declaration alarmed Lanying, who quickly tried to placate her.
”Mum, you shouldn’t talk like that. There are hurdles in many stages of our life, and we have to cross them all. Even if you don’t like it here, please do it for me. I really want to be close to your family. It feels wonderful having a big family like this apart from the orphanage.”
Lanying’s words succeeded in touching Fu Juan, who now felt the need to ignore what was going on and focus on helping her daughter get close to the family.
Seeing that her plans walked, the smile on her face spread the more as she took her hands and led her towards the bed.
”Where are you taking me to?” Fu Juan asked as she followed her.
”I’m going to give you a massage,” Lanying said with a smile as she helped her to sit at the foot of the bed.
Fu Juan asked with a look of surprise, “What do I need a massage for?”
”To calm your nerves, so you won’t anger my uncles and also, grandfather and get us thrown out of the house,” Lanying replied as she began the massage section, starting from her shoulders.
