When the two young women discovered that they got the same necklace, they gave him an annoyed gaze.
”Just tell me that this is not, buy one get one free?” FangSu inquired with a deep frown as she placed the necklace on her palm.
YingPei scoffed and said to her, “Do you think I’m that cheap? This is the first time I’m buying something for you two when it’s not a special occasion, and you think I will stoop that low?”
”It’s exactly because it is your first time gifting us soothing that it seems unbelievable,” Meixu said as she examined the necklace in her hands.
YingPei huffed and pointed at the two of them while saying, “You need to change the cheap mindset you have about me. I only got the same necklace because you two are the only females in our generation.”
(YingPei was referring to them being the only females in their set)
As he said that, FangSu and Meixu exchanged glances. “Oh! He doesn’t know.” Meixu said and looked away.
YingPei studied their facial expression and asked, “What do I not know?”
”Aunt Juan came here a few days ago with a young woman who happens to be her adopted adult child.” FangSu spilled with a careless gaze.
YingPei thought they were joking, but when they mentioned the familiar name Lanying, he knew they were serious and immediately told them that he just met the said young lady on his arrival.
”How could Aunt do such a thing? Does gramps know about it?” He asked with a slight frown.
”Well, all of us found out the same day. This house has been something else since they came over, you were lucky to enjoy some peace and quietness while away on your vacation.” Meixu said as she put the necklace back into its casing.
”And that is the reason we didn’t bother you on your time off from work. Anyways, welcome home and enjoy the drama with us.” FangSu said as she picked up her glass of wine and toasted it to him in the air, before drinking from it.
YingPei was really surprised by the news. He just went away for a few days, and they already have another grown-up family member. And this makes him think that he traveled to another planet and returned.
Out of exhaustion and shock, what came out of his lips was, “This family is extraordinary.”
”You are not the only one shocked, I still can’t believe this,” FangSu said.
”When we thought that our family was done with dramas, another one came up. Which one will come up after this?” Meixu asked as she picked up her glass of wine.
”Who knows, we will have to see how this one ends,” YingPei said and looked away.
When it was time for dinner, the entire family gathered, almost at the same time. As usual, YingPei went straight for his seat, and almost collided with Lanying who looked surprised to see YingPei sitting there.
Before YingPei could ask if there was any problem, FangSu sneered from where she was sitting and said to Lanying with a menacing gaze.
”You want to fight my brother for seating in his position which we all let you take over without making trouble?”
Lanying looked troubled as most of the family members directed their gazes at her. She quickly bowed slightly and apologized saying that she was only surprised, before going to sit on the other side, next to her mother, and Fu Lei.
”You shouldn’t have been surprised in the first place because you are new here, and don’t know your place yet,” FangSu said.
FangSu was trying to tell her that as a new member of the family who didn’t know how things were done, she shouldn’t be surprised if she was corrected.
Fu Juan glanced at FangSu and said with an annoyed tone, “Now, you are making trouble.”
FangSu almost rolled her eyes at her as she looked away.
Fu Juan released a deep breath to stop herself from causing trouble because she didn’t want to fight as anything she did would be used against her.
Wanting to squeeze her daughter’s hand as a way of comforting her, she noticed that she had her head downwards, and it was only when she saw who was sitting next to her that she understood.
Instantly, she could almost feel the pressure her daughter had to bear and optioned changing sitting positions with her, but Geming stopped her.
”What are you trying to do?”
As he asked that question, all eyes were now on her, which in the process, forced her to sit back down.
”Brother Lei’s aura is too much for my innocent daughter to bear, so I had wanted to change seats with her.” Fu Juan replied calmly.
”Did you not want her to get used to the family, this is one of the rarest occasions for that.” Fu Geming said before going back to eating his food.
With this little or no drama, YingPei knew that a lot has been going on in his absence. If not for Daiyu, he would have regretted leaving for a few days which caused him to miss some drama episodes.
There was a way to know what has been happening, and that would be immediately after dinner. He needed to hear the full gist of the whole drama that happened in his absence. So after dinner, he met FangSu, Meixu, and Ling, so they could gist him.
After learning what happened in his absence, YingPei asked, “Why did the drama have to end before I could come back?”
”That’s because Aunt doesn’t want to leave yet. Apparently, she wants to stay here for 2 months.” Meixu replied.
YingPei had a confused gaze as he wondered how that linked to the drama coming to an end, so Fu Ling had to explain to him bluntly.
”If Aunt causes any trouble, she will be immediately kicked out as everyone is unhappy with her.”
”So, you will have to provoke Aunt if you want to watch some drama,” FangSu added with a half-smile.
