Su Yunjin didn’t care about the expressions on the faces of Mrs. Zhang and Mrs. Han. After speaking, before the two could react, she pulled and dragged them toward the kitchen door.

Blocking the entrance to the kitchen, Su Yunjin had no intention of letting them back in. Unable to enter the kitchen and with outsiders present, Mrs. Zhang and Mrs. Han couldn’t shamelessly rob Su Yunjin of her food. Angrily, teeth clenched, they cursed as they left her home.
“Pah, as if I wanted it! Even if you gave it to me for free, I wouldn’t take it! It’s just a bit of food, who hasn’t seen that before?” Mrs. Zhang and Mrs. Han had gone far, yet Su Yunjin could still hear their cursing.
Mrs. Chu asked, “Third sister-in-law, will elder sister-in-law and fourth sister-in-law come back again?”
“If they come back, they’ll be sent packing again!” Su Yunjin didn’t take Mrs. Zhang and Mrs. Han seriously. The way to deal with them was to not be polite; otherwise, they would walk all over her.
Not letting those two affect her mood, Su Yunjin went back to the kitchen and said to Mrs. Chu, “Younger sister-in-law, I’ll go scoop out the winter melon soup. Can you call Big Brother Niu and Fifth Brother to come and eat?”
“Yes, third sister-in-law, I’ll go call Big Brother Niu and the others to come and eat right now!” Mrs. Chu nodded and as Su Yunjin added, “And yes, mother too, call her over so she can eat with us at noon.”
“I will call mother, third sister-in-law.” After Mrs. Chu left, Su Yunjin took two big bowls and ladled the winter melon soup from the pot. She set the soup on the table and arranged the bowls and chopsticks. Thinking of Gu Ya, Su Yunjin decided to take his food to him right then.
She put a bit of each dish for Gu Ya on his plate, and considering the injury on his leg, she gave him an extra helping of meat.
Feeling it was about right, she took another bowl and filled it with soup for Gu Ya, and then she carried the food and soup to him.
Gu Ya was lying in the room and, seeing his little wife coming, knew she was there to bring him food.
“Husband, I have brought you your food; you can eat now.” Su Yunjin said as she reached Gu Ya’s side and handed him the meal.
She set the other bowl of soup down on a small stool next to him. As Gu Ya received the meal and saw the heap of meat in his bowl, he looked up at his little wife with a teasing smile, “Yunjin, you’ve given me so much meat, are you worried about me?”
