Setting aside the account book he was calculating, Gu Ya nodded to his young wife, “Hmm! Let’s eat first then!” They would eat first and afterwards, he would continue with the accounts.
Su Yunjin brought the food to Gu Ya and sat down beside him. Gu Ya took a couple of big mouthfuls of rice and sensed that his young wife seemed to have something to say to him.
He stopped and looked at her, asking, “What is it? Yunjin, do you have something to say?”
Su Yunjin indeed had something she wanted to tell Gu Ya.
“Husband, I want to visit my family home tomorrow! I probably won’t be back until evening. I will prepare your meals in advance tomorrow and I will also speak to my fifth brother to ask him to look after you for the day.”
“Yunjin, why are you visiting your family home?” Gu Ya asked, somewhat surprised. Her recent visit was not long ago, so why another one so soon?
Su Yunjin said, “Husband, I’ll just be going there for one day and will be back soon.”
This trip home was about selling the Pickled Fish Sauce that Su Yunjin had made last time. However, if she mentioned it to Gu Ya now, he might worry that the Pickled Fish Sauce wouldn’t sell. After some thought, Su Yunjin decided it was best not to tell Gu Ya for the time being. She would wait until after she had sold it before informing him.

So that’s what was bothering him! Gu Ya was worried about her, afraid she would be at a disadvantage back at the Su Family! Understanding his concern, Su Yunjin said with a laugh, “Husband, rest assured, I won’t have any trouble when I go back tomorrow! My step-grandmother and the others aren’t tigers. Even if I see them, so what? Could they really devour me?”
Under the lamplight, Su Yunjin’s smile was sly, her eyes curving like a cunning little fox.
