Chapter 45: Chapter 45 Protecting Her
“Yes, yes, yes, today Dahu’s wife did indeed fall on her own, and I can prove that!”
“I can prove it too; I was right there. When Dahu’s wife fell, I saw it with my own eyes.”
Amid the commentators gathered in the courtyard, Mrs. Feng was so frustrated she could hardly express herself. She did fall on her own, but if it weren’t for Su Yunjin kicking a stone to trip her, how would she have fallen?
Raging, Mrs. Feng pointed at Su Yunjin, shouting without regard for her image, “It’s you, it’s you, it’s all you! If it wasn’t for your evil heart planning against me, how could I have fallen?”
“What a joke, how is your fall anything to do with me? What did I scheme against you? Did I make you curse at me, or did I make you fall?” Su Yunjin sneered.
Furious, Mrs. Feng was left speechless by Su Yunjin, “You—!”
“Ya surnamed Su, I’m asking you one more time, are you and the Gu Family really not planning to compensate?” Niu Dahu was impatient, already annoyed by the commotion.
Su Yunjin indeed had no intention of paying any compensation, “Right, exactly, I have no plans to pay.”
“Well then, you are asking for it, ya surnamed Su.” Niu Dahu said maliciously, twisting his mouth, and suddenly he swung the wooden stick in his hand towards Su Yunjin, shocking everyone with the unexpected assault.
That included Su Yunjin.
Just as Su Yunjin saw the stick falling towards her head, suddenly a strong hand pulled her into an embrace and shielded her with his body.
A heavy grunt sounded from above her head, and reflexively, Su Yunjin looked up to see Gu Ya’s handsome face in front of her eyes.
Was it he who protected her?
Su Yunjin stared at Gu Ya, dumbfounded.
In the courtyard, someone shouted, “He’s beating someone, he’s beating someone! Oh no, Dahu’s strike wasn’t light, the Gu Family’s third son just took that blow for his wife; I hope he’s alright?”
“Son, are you okay?” Mrs. An turned pale with fear and cried out in panic; Niu Dahu, not content with just one blow, swung his stick again, aiming for a second hit. Su Yunjin, with sharp eyes, quickly realized Niu Dahu’s intent and immediately yelled at Gu Ya.
Hearing his wife’s warning, Gu Ya, with quick reflexes, first pushed his wife away and then dodged the stick swung by Niu Dahu.
Su Yunjin and her husband successfully avoided Niu Dahu’s stick. Niu Dahu, not willing to give up, continued to swing his stick at Gu Ya. Just then, Su Yunjin noticed the plump woman standing nearby was Mrs. Feng; with a squint of her eyes, Su Yunjin pushed Mrs. Feng into the path where Niu Dahu’s stick was falling, and a scream followed, “Ow!” Niu Dahu’s heavy blow landed on Mrs. Feng’s body.
Perhaps not expecting to hit his own wife, Niu Dahu froze for a moment, and seizing the opportunity, Gu Ya quickly snatched the stick from Niu Dahu’s hands.
Without his stick in hand, Niu Dahu turned around instinctively, only for Gu Ya to strike Niu Dahu’s knee with the stick. Niu Dahu’s leg buckled in pain, and then he fell forward heavily to the ground.
Niu Dahu’s body was as plump as Mrs. Feng’s, and his round form hitting the ground raised a cloud of dust. Gu Ya held Niu Dahu down with the stick, immobilizing him completely on the ground.
Unable to get up, Niu Dahu cursed loudly, “Ya surnamed Gu, what the hell do you think you’re doing holding me down? Serves you right that you broke your leg! Let go of me! If you don’t let go, I’ll never let this go with your Gu Family!”
