Once the Magistrate determined that Mrs. Feng was the one spreading the rumors, he immediately arrested her. Several villagers who loved to watch excitement followed en masse when they saw the Magistrate’s men take Mrs. Feng away.
When Su Yunjin and her husband Gu Ya arrived at the Magistrate’s house, there was already a crowd of villagers who had gathered nearby, all abuzz with discussion.
“It’s said that Mrs. Feng was the one who spread the rumors about the Gu Family’s third son’s wife seducing men. Do you think she bears a grudge against the Gu Family to spread such rumors and smear the third son’s wife’s reputation?”
