“Dad, Mom, how often does the person who sends the gifts come?” Su Yunjin asked. Figuring out the timing, they could wait outside and catch the person as soon as he arrived.
Sure enough, the person delivering the gifts was quite regular–about every five to six days he would come twice, and having delivered today, the man would probably come again tomorrow.
“Yunjin, I reckon the man who sends the gifts will deliver again tomorrow,” Mrs. Shen said truthfully.
Su Yunjin bit into a loquat, “Then that’s easy, we’ll hide in a concealed spot outside from early tomorrow and wait for that person to deliver the gifts.”
With the rumor situation resolved, Su Yunjin had planned to return home after clearing her name, but now she was also curious about who kept sending these gifts to her parents every now and then.
She thought about staying one more day to see who was so kind-hearted as to send food for her parents to eat. Gu Ya typically indulged Su Yunjin in such minor matters.
If Su Yunjin wanted to stay one more day with her family, Gu Ya certainly had no objections and continued to stay with his young wife at the Su Family home.
Since someone had sent a basket of fish, they had fish for lunch. Mrs. Shen gutted the fish, fried it until golden on both sides in oil, and then boiled it with water. Consequently, the siblings shared and enjoyed together.
It was hot, and if the loquats were soaked in well water before being fished out, they would taste even better. Su Yunjin put the remaining loquats in a wooden bucket and submerged them in the well.
They would take them out in the evening to eat while cooling off.
It would certainly be especially refreshing.
As for Su Xiaofu, after falling into the water and being fished out, she was not only completely drenched, but her clothes were torn and ragged, exposing large areas of skin.
She was in an utmost mess. Feng Meimei wasn’t much better off than Su Xiaofu, also looking disheveled, with her hair undone and her clothes torn.
Her face was scratched up a fair bit by Su Xiaofu. Today, the fight between Su Xiaofu and Feng Meimei was quite a spectacle, a rare sight.
The two of them were like lunatics, neither yielding to the other, tearing at each other all the way. Feng Meimei pushed Su Xiaofu into the river first, followed by Su Xiaofu grabbing Feng Meimei’s skirt and pulling her down too. Their brawl ended only after they were both in the water.
With the ruckus caused by Feng Meimei and Su Xiaofu today, the entire Su Family Village knew about the affair between Su Xiaofu and the widow Feng over a man. Mrs. Tao was furious.
She scolded Su Xiaofu for her foolishness.
Now, Su Xiaofu felt wronged. Brother Wenxuan was clearly hers, but was despicably stolen by that widow Feng. Especially, when she heard the widow boasting that Fan Wenxuan had crawled into her blankets.
