Su Yunjin stopped to reassure Mrs. Shen, “Mother, I’m going to the kitchen now.” Upon reaching the kitchen, Su Yunjin found the fish in the pot fully cooked,
and the cooking water nearly gone.
Luckily, she arrived in time, and the fish wasn’t burnt.
Using a spatula, she lifted the fish out, placed it on a clean plate, and washed the pot before refilling it with water to keep the rice and vegetables warm. In the furnace, Su Yunjin added a couple more logs to ensure the fire didn’t die out.
After finishing these tasks,
Su Yunjin returned to her room for the ointment.
Last time Su Yunjin had fallen and injured herself, Gu Ya applied this same ointment, which he had borrowed from someone else. Afterwards, Gu Ya bought a box for themselves.
