The Ice King's Little Trouble Maker Chapter 176

Gu Yanjing kept rubbing Qiao Yuxian’s stomach.

Although it still hurt, it was significantly relieved.

Just as they were waiting for the doctor, Qiao Yuxian developed a fever. It was thirty-eight point five degrees, and she snuggled into Gu Yanjing’s arms, feeling utterly wilted.

The doctor who came was a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine. He was thirty-six years old and named Huang Qi.

It’s said that back in the day when his father was at the pharmacy preparing medicine for patients, he had just opened this particular herb, Huang Qi, when his assistant ran in to tell him that his wife had given birth to a chubby boy.

Since their family name was Huang and his father thought the child was destined to be connected with this herb, he directly named him Huang Qi.

The Huang family is a renowned family of Chinese medicine practitioners, known for generations of famous doctors.

Huang Qi has his private hospital and usually makes house calls while mentoring apprentices.

But he is also one of Gu Yanjing’s people.

He always prioritizes Gu Yanjing’s matters.

When he arrived at Fenglin Villa, he took Qiao Yuxian’s pulse, asked her some questions, and examined her tongue and eyes.

After that, he went outside with Gu Yanjing.

Gu Yanjing looked a bit somber, and his voice was colder than usual: "How is it?"

"Wind-cold induced fever," Huang Qi replied, "In Western medical terms, it’s a viral infection."

Gu Yanjing slightly furrowed his brow. Recently, he had always seen Qiao Yuxian go out warmly dressed, so she shouldn’t have caught a cold: "She’s usually in good health."

"During her menstrual period, her resistance might decline," Huang Qi explained.

"An hour ago, she was fine, without any symptoms of a cold," Gu Yanjing added, "Can it develop that quickly?"

Huang Qi paused momentarily and then asked, "What about during her previous menstrual periods?"

"Except for the time you came in September and this time, there were no problems the previous times, and there was no pain," Gu Yanjing said, "She said she never used to feel pain before."

Huang Qi glanced at him because he was so detailed, then said, "From the pulse, there’s no major issue. If you’re concerned, you can go to the hospital for a comprehensive check-up tomorrow."

Gu Yanjing still trusted Huang Qi’s medical skills.

If he said there’s nothing wrong, the hospital check-up would likely yield the same result.

But he still decided to take her to the hospital the next day.

Gu Yanjing did not speak.

Huang Qi looked at him and said, "Is there any of the medicine left from last time?"

"You can give her a packet to take."

Huang Qi took out a packet of medicine from his medical kit: "This one’s for pain relief, without any side effects."

"Alright," Gu Yanjing took it, looked at the medicine, and asked, "Stay over?"

Huang Qi was momentarily taken aback, then laughed: "I can do that."

He knew that Gu Yanjing was worried about anything occurring with his little wife during the night.

Gu Yanjing nodded his head.

Huang Qi added, "Mr. Gu, viral infections can be somewhat contagious."

"Alright," Gu Yanjing replied, entering the room directly.

Huang Qi watched as he responded while moving closer to the patient, raised an eyebrow, and went downstairs to find Aunt Mei to help him arrange a room to sleep in.

Qiao Yuxian fell asleep after taking the medicine.

However, she kept talking in her sleep after dozing off.

Mumbling this and that, clear one moment and indistinct the next.

Mostly, she talked about her aunt scolding her.

But to each utterance, Gu Yanjing offered a response.

From her sleep talking, he managed to grasp a small portion of her past life.

At two in the morning, Qiao Yuxian’s fever subsided, and she slept soundly.

Only then did Gu Yanjing hold her and take a short nap.

But he dared not sleep too deeply.

By early morning, not yet six o’clock, he was awake again.

Qiao Yuxian seemed to have recovered, the color returned to her cheeks, and she slept deeply—if not for Gu Yanjing’s arm holding her, she might have fallen off the bed.

As soon as Gu Yanjing got out of bed, she opened her eyes and looked at him.

Gu Yanjing stroked her head: "Go back to sleep, it’s still early."

Qiao Yuxian closed her eyes, holding onto his hand: "Since it’s still early, let’s sleep a little longer together."

"Why?" Qiao Yuxian held onto him, unwilling to let go.

"I’m awake," Gu Yanjing bent down and kissed her on the temple.

Qiao Yuxian froze for a moment, then, a few seconds later, buried her face deeper into the blanket, muttering: "That was an illusion, you aren’t awake yet."

Gu Yanjing’s lips curled into a subtle smile.

Qiao Yuxian exerted a slight force: "Come back up."

Mr. Gu hesitated only for a second before lying back on the bed.

Qiao Yuxian wrapped her arms around his waist, nestling instantly in his embrace.

Gu Yanjing held her, and after a moment said, "Qiao Yuxian."

"Hmm?" Qiao Yuxian replied, her voice groggy.

"Let’s sleep together from now on," Gu Yanjing’s voice was light.

It didn’t sound like a question, more like a decision he had made.

And for Mr. Gu, his decisions were always about execution.

Hearing his words, Qiao Yuxian was silent for a while, then said: "Alright. We’ll sleep together during my periods."

Qiao Yuxian chuckled, her leg draped over his, whispering: "Don’t say anything more. You’re too tired; sleep a bit more."

The two of them slept , not leaving the room until after eight.

Lin Huai Shu had gotten up early, finishing his breakfast, and sat in the living room, gazing at Gu Yanjing’s room, watching to see when they would emerge.

However, he didn’t see Gu Yanjing come out; instead, it was Huang Qi who appeared.

Seeing him, Lin Huai Shu was stunned for two seconds before his eyes widened, standing up from the sofa, staring at Huang Qi.

Huang Qi, struggling with the unfamiliar bed, had finally fallen asleep at four in the morning and got up somewhat late.

There were faint dark circles under his eyes now.

"Morning," said Huang Qi.

Lin Huai Shu looked at him in shock, only speaking as he approached: "Yanjing summoned you in the middle of the night? Such a commotion, so beastly, that it needs a doctor?"

Huang Qi poured himself a cup of water from the teapot on the coffee table: "Miss Gu had a fever, I came over to take a look."

"She had a fever?!" Lin Huai Shu’s mind exploded, "Yanjing, how could he be so inconsiderate?"

Huang Qi looked at him again, utterly confused: "I’m talking about a fever, what are you talking about?"

"I’m also talking about a fever," Lin Huai Shu said.

"Miss Gu had a fever, and Mr. Gu stayed up all night with her, is that inconsiderate?" Huang Qi looked puzzled, "Have I lost touch with society?"

"Ah? What! The little sister-in-law had a fever?!" Lin Huai Shu exclaimed excitedly.

"What was I just talking about?" Huang Qi questioned his own sanity.

What’s happened to people in this world?

Do words now have new meanings?

Why do their conversations diverge so much?

"You were talking about a fever," Lin Huai Shu said.

"Yes," Huang Qi agreed, "I was talking about a fever."

Dou Jin, waking up in the morning and grooming his face prettily with his paws, heard their noise and disdainfully chose another spot. Read full story at ɴovelfire.net

Zhaocai glanced at them both, turned around and left.

Leaving them with an exceptionally disdainful back view.
